If I bought your child a book from a charity shop...

...would you think I'm a cheapskate or not want it? I always prefer to buy second hand, especially books and I found some wonderful Christmas books for my friends' children. But now I'm worried they will think I'm a cheapskate because they are secondhand? I don't have children myself so I don't know if this would offend some people

I would be very happy that you would be gifting my child a book, they can never have enough new reading material, bonus points if its one of their current favs, who cares if its been pre loved ♥️

Have always picked up second hand books, especially for Christmas too.

I picked up "1,000 places to see before you die" for £1 for one of mine. It was absolutely perfect. Delighted.

I buy second hand books for myself and my dc....I wouldn't give them to other people as gifts though

Although if someone bought me one, I'd accept gratefully...I just couldn't bring myself to buy one for someone else

My grandmother did this every year.
I loved it, and it took the pressure off- the book could be good, could be rubbish- but it had only been a pound so it didn't matter!!

I bought my friend's child a Winnie the Pooh set of books which are currently on Amazon for £20, they cost me £5 and are in perfect condition. Why would she care where I bought them?
