How do I make my shitty Christmas garland look less shitty?

I need the creative minds of MN because I do not possess one. I decided not to put a tree up this year, because I have a 1 year old menace who'd just fell it or destroy it in other ways at some point.

I had a vision of a nice garland, festooned with tree ornaments instead. This does not match my vision...

I'm honestly fed up. It would've been easier just to police the tree

I think you should just forget about it and go with your idea of hanging the excess cards there instead....but then i can't be arsed with foraging for wet, muddy, possibly dog pics saturated 'green stuff' in my local park and faffing for hours trying to make it less shit as it falls apart on my table leaving crap everywhere. Some people are amazing at the crafty stuff, I have accepted I am not!
