What would Boris and his party have to do that’s bad enough from him to have to step down ?

I was wondering this after seeing someone musing on one of the threads about the Christmas Party held at Downing Street that nothing seems to stick to him.

What would it take for people to not vote for him ? Or for Boris to have to step down/ the party to hold a vote of no confidence in him.

The handling of Brexit ?

The utter shambles that was the covid response and the lies about the Downing Street party ?

Test and trace being an utter waste of money ?

Giving cronies multi million pound contracts (see above test and trace) ?

Is there anything ?

@LookslovelyinSpringtime

The problem is there is no one to take his place. The whole party is a shambles full of rotten apples. Labour has no proper leadership, no policies and a load of renegades. It’s the devil you know syndrome.
Our options are nil.
OhWhyNot · 07/12/2021 23:48

Read the Tory Party website that will tell you

Low tax, incentives for private business and home ownership, less centralised power tends to be what many voters like and why they get voted in again and again but as you know the Tory party is apt at adapting

Last election of course the support of Brexit

But you know all this Ken

Kill a dog or turn republican. Either would see him happily ousted.

There are currently people on another thread claiming that voting Tory is the "sensible thing to do", so I think we can safely say the answer is "Boris could be filmed lopping the head off the Queen while wearing a Nazi uniform" and people would still blindly vote away.

Fucking Nora.

bottleofbeer · 08/12/2021 00:29

Must be some kind of weird Stockholm syndrome because I'm fucked if I can think of any other explanation for people repeatedly voting for them.

JammyRedRooo · 08/12/2021 00:42

Have to be shamed by a footballer into feeding hungry children? Oh wait.

Westfacing · 08/12/2021 00:49

It's like their laughing at us - taking the piss knowing there's not much we can do!

Even the Worzel Gummidge dressed as a policeman look is all part of Johnson's charm - makes him look friendly, not sinister.

TooBigForMyBoots · 08/12/2021 01:23

@SexyNeckbeard

The people that voted tory won't want to admit they got it so badly wrong.

People that voted tory didn't want the hard left policies, identity politics and kitchen sink manifesto on offer from Labour during the election. Its not the voters fault that Labour made themselves unelectable and its not the voters fault that Labour seem very happy to remain so.

People that voted Tory did so because they wanted to.

They could have voted someone else that was not Tory. Or Labour. They could have stayed home that winter's night and had fun with colleagues, friends and family.

They didn't. They got off their arses. They got off their sofas. They left the house and went out of their way to vote Conservative.

Labour haven't been in power for years. This ballsed up state that we're in is down to Tory fuck ups with Austerity, Brexit and Covid. And the voters who gave them that power.Xmas AngryXmas Sad

Honestly? I don’t bloody know.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 08/12/2021 01:49

Drink driving or running somebody over which I don't really wish on anyone.
Or being deeply involved with Epstein/Maxwell which I think is highly very unlikely as he may not have many morals but I don't think Boris is actually evil just an entitled jumped up clever arse who thinks the world revolves around him.

BoudecaBains · 08/12/2021 01:54

Lose the next election, which isn't going to happen.

Obsidiansphere · 08/12/2021 01:59

He could snort a line of coke off the dispatches box, then light up a joint and it would be seen as jolly japes…he’s already killed thousands “let the bodies pile up” and they did Angry

TooBigForMyBoots · 08/12/2021 02:14

In the week where it was going that folks in the HoC have been snorting coke off surfaces in the bogs, the arsehole dressed up as a peeler and spouted utter shite.

If be is serious about cracking down on middle class drug users he should start with the man in the mirror.Xmas Hmm

Heatherjayne1972 · 08/12/2021 06:45

Why did people vote for them? I have no idea
Why are they still in power ? No credible opposition
No one credible to take over the prime minister role

groundcontroltomontydon · 08/12/2021 07:02

If they were to tax unearned income/gains (house price increases, inheritance) and if Labour ditched identity politics and got its act together?

HalfWomanHalfMincePie · 08/12/2021 07:13

Normally raising taxes would do it. But they've done that as well and it doesn't seem to have hurt them.

Effibreast · 08/12/2021 07:34

A good question would be how good do labour have to be to win an election or even be deemed a decent opposition ? Agreed that Starmer is a bit dull but sensible, he's trying to make the party more appealing to business and aspirational voters, he's trying to shake off Corbyn's mantle, attacking Johnson in parliament but still people say that's not good enough. The 'opposition is no good either' trope essentially is just a lame excuse. We deserve what we get.
Add to that the government is insidiously dismantling our right to protest, not a whiff of dissent from anyone...very soon it will be illegal to demonstrate against anything.

How can you not think he is evil? He let the virus spread and left Care home residents to die. He refuses to acknowledge some of his children He has had many affairs He lies He breaks his own rules Said the investigation into historic child abuse was 'spaffed up the wall' Been investigated for breaking financial interests as mp Lost millions as a mayor This is just the top of my head

This is so, so true, Effibreast.
AlecTrevelyan006 · 08/12/2021 07:55

Sadly, we have the worst government ever and also the worst opposition ever precisely at the time we needed the best of both.

RedBonnet · 08/12/2021 08:07

Most people get their information/knowledge from the media. So the onus is on the media to report the truth, and for 'most people' to read more than just the sun or daily mail. And to watch more than just the BBC or itv

I remember when Thatcher broke the unions and allowed council house tenants to become home owners. Added some Gerry Mandering and Lo! Labour slowly became a non-entity who only gained power when they moved to the right

amsadandconfused · 08/12/2021 08:08

It genuinely scares me that there is no accountability for any actions by that bunch of clowns !
Also scary that the electorate are so brainwashed and this government so unchallenged by the opposition …where is Starmer ? Why is he so quiet …he has been given so much ammunition to be very vocal ! It’s all a mystery .

amsadandconfused · 08/12/2021 08:10

This is what I said but in a very long winded way …totally agree!
Kendodd · 08/12/2021 08:28

I've come to the conclusion that there are three types of Tory voter.

The racist. They all love Boris and all the Tory anti immigrant, hostile environment, attacks on human rights etc. The PM can even name call minorities, it's great for them.
The gullible. Believe Tory promises and the low tax lies, NHS safe with us etc. Also think austerity is great and somehow makes their life better (!)
The very rich. Especially if they donate small amounts to the Tory party and 'win' massive government contracts afterwards. Reduced workers rights is great for them.

Their is no chance any of them will turn away from the Tories, why would they?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 08/12/2021 08:44

Well I'd be amazed Boris is going to get out of this one.
As it's one thing to lie when no one can prove that you're lying, but when you have video evidence that proves you are lying about people brazenly breaking the law & mocking the general public, explain that one.
