Please help me! NOTHING but trouble with Dyson, I cannot buy another. Are Miele any good and if so which model? Or any other suggestions? I don’t care about budget it just needs to work well and not constantly break!

I very much liked my Dyson vacuum (handheld v7). Only issue was range anxiety aka battery life (6-8 mins on high power). I've just bought the new v11 Absolute and it's amazing. Easily 45 mins battery life. Can thoroughly recommend.

A shark. I love my shark

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 06/12/2021 12:46

Had a Dyson. Then a Shark. I now have a Henry which blows (or should I say sucks) them out of the water.

Even the basic miele C1 I have is better than any Dyson I've had since the first one. Also have a Sebo X4 which is great on carpets.

BitBroken · 06/12/2021 12:50

I love my hetty. She's old but good.

custardbear · 06/12/2021 12:50

I had multiple Dysons but never really pleased with them. Then a Shark, great to start but soon became ok. I'm going for a Henry next which my cleaners use and they're great.

Ifionlyknewthenwhatiknownow3 · 06/12/2021 12:56

Miele C3, honestly brilliant but maybe you're looking for an upright? You'll get a better price than curry's 299 somewhere

Sprig1 · 06/12/2021 12:59

Henry. He is great, never let's you down. Ours is a much loved member of our family.

Dougieowner · 06/12/2021 13:13

Love to know why people don't like a Dyson as we have had them for about 25yrs without issues.
First was a DC01A which was great for long haired cats. Lasted 15yrs+.
Currently have a DC33 Animal and again we are very pleased.
We "inherited" a Dyson Smallball when my parents died and tend to keep it upstairs or for the motorcaravan, once again no issues.

One thing I will say is that if you need replacement filters then buy genuine as pattern ones are very poor quality and I am sure cause many problems.
Another is to make sure you empty the cleaner regularly and always clean the filters. We find that they pick up such a huge volume of rubbish that it can be surprising just how much muck you are carrying around.
Apart from filters I think the only spares required in all those years have been extending hose (both DC01A & DC33) and long nozzle for the DC33.

PickAChew · 06/12/2021 13:28

Even with official parts, our dfyson ball was terrible and too bloody noisy. It also hurt my wrists.

LadyOfMisrule · 06/12/2021 13:38

I loved my Dysons when they first came out. They lasted for years with brilliant performance. My last two were rubbish, though, so I defected to Miele.

My Miele C3 Cat and Dog is good (better than my last Dysons) but not brilliant. The bags are expensive. Long hair gets very tangled around the brushes; I have to cut it off every time I use it. The suck doesn't seem to be as hugely powerful as a Dyson.

I certainly won't be replacing it with a Henry - I've used those before for work and they are heavy, unwieldy, and develop a "distinctive" smell. I have tried a Shark, and they lose performance very quickly.

So I'll stick with my Miele until it dies, then try and find something better.

nannybeach · 06/12/2021 13:40

Shark pet, 2 long haired dogs!

JMAngel1 · 06/12/2021 14:02

I have a Henry for a once weekly deep good hoover - he js soooo beavy though and cumbersome but he does a good job.
Then I use my Dyson V7 for inbetween spot cleaning. I think the handheld Dyson is only goid for very superficial cleaning.

ClaudiaWankleman · 06/12/2021 14:03

Henry is a marmite hoover - and I hate.

I love my handheld Dyson v11. I was a bit sceptical but it has surprised me at how good it is.

I've heard good things about Shark, but also a few negative reviews (mostly about pet ones being too strong and stripping bits out of the carpet).

AbsolutelyFuckinFabulousDarlin · 06/12/2021 14:21

I have a Henry extra and a Dyson. Both are excellent. Henry is mains and Dyson is battery. Have you over charged it?

mejon · 06/12/2021 14:27

Miele Cat & Dog cylinder cleaner. 10yrs+ and still going strong. So strong it lifts up the carpet. I had a Dyson and hated it.

MrsKDB · 06/12/2021 14:33

Not over charged, it’s an upright plug in. We’ve cleaned the filters thoroughly multiple times. whirrs and won’t pick up anything. Piece of shit, I’m ready to throw it out of the window!

Looking at the Miele c3 cat and dog now. I’m not keen on Henry’s find them very cumbersome.

Bettybantz · 06/12/2021 14:37

I’ve had Dyson, Henry, Meile and Shark. Henry is too heavy for me and did my back in. Meile’s motor kept going as it blocked too easily. Now loving my upright shark but the hair wrap isn’t as good as I’d hoped for - still the best of them I’d say

Madcats · 06/12/2021 14:37

I have a Miele Blizzard CX1 cats and dogs bagless vacuum. It replaced an elderly Dyson that was going to cost a fair amount to fix (seem to remember it tumbled down the stairs). I live with two hairy cats, a messy husband and a teen daughter with long hair. We've probably had it 3 or 4 years now.

I like the fact that I can dismantle the body to rinse it out. I dislike the fact that I have to cut DD's hair off the rollers every couple of weeks.

Other than that I find the variable suction useful but bought a smaller brush to tackle the carpeted stairs.

I also have a cheap rechargeable handheld for quick jobs. It has lights on the floor brush, which seemed gimmicky at the time but it is useful for highlighting how badly I sweep the kitchen floor.

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 06/12/2021 14:39

I have a Miele, shark and Henry cordless. I reach for Henry every time. Selling the others.

NCnotmyusualone · 06/12/2021 14:45

Shark

OzziePopPop · 06/12/2021 15:25

Shark. We have ome upstairs, one down. Both are great!

MrsKDB · 07/12/2021 09:37

thanks guys. The dyson is under warranty so we are sending it off. I might see if I can get a v7 or v11 replacement and then get the miele c3 to go alongside it (three storey house)

Henry.

brakespeare · 07/12/2021 13:24

We have a sebo. We were young and stupid and spent a fortune on it. Its still going strong 18 years later! I don't even know if they still make them but I'd highly recommend it. The one we have is not an upright, has really helpful attachments and is the pet hair one.
