If I liked 'Holidate' what else would I like (don't judge me)

I watched this a few days ago, and unexpectedly really enjoyed it.

Anything of a similar ilk on Netflix? Doesn't have to be Christmassey per se, but needs to be light entertainment.

@canary1

Daddy’s home 1 and 2, 2 is Christmassy. Hilarious!
And don't forget Bad Moms Christmas!

Princess duh! Of course you've seen the most important entry into the RomCom canon in the last 20 years lol. My 14yo DD and I have been glued since the first one. Kavinsky is our boy Grin Let me know if you liked Begin Again!

I think we should keep this thread going with updates for cute and cheesy movie/series recs. We have been seriously underserved RomComs for years, but I reckon between the Christmas movies, All The Boys and Bridgerton, Hollywood realised it was missing a trick.

Oh, that also reminds me. Starstruck was heaven, and Single All The Way looks like it'll be cute.

Because of this thread I watched Love Hard last night. Had never even heard of it before. I loved it. Thanks for the suggestion.

garlictwist · 05/12/2021 06:39

Another vote for Love Hard. I put it on expecting it to be quite shit but I really enjoyed it.

We sat through this the other week. Awful! And that was just the "Scottish" accents
PrincessNutNuts · 05/12/2021 13:15

I haven't managed to watch anything new off this thread yet. It gets very super hero ish here at the weekends, but I've added some to my watch lists and watched the trailer for Christmas with the Coopers. Smile

StormyCornishSeas · 05/12/2021 13:23

Went out last night and watched A Christmas Prince before I went to bed. I quite like that and it's sequels

CrimbleCrumble1 · 05/12/2021 13:43

Christmas with the Coopers is good PrincessNutNuts

Refrosty · 05/12/2021 14:43

A California Christmas is entertaining and there’s a sequel coming this month …
Ah yesssssss!!

BustedCanOfBiscuits · 05/12/2021 23:53

Watched Love Hard with DD last night. We loved it 🥰

Blithe Spirit just started streaming on one of my many subscriptions, so I'm watching that next

BustedCanOfBiscuits · 05/12/2021 23:58

garlictwist I lived in Scotland for many years, it was painful. But then I'm Irish, so I'm used to the butchering. And nevermind that a fecking Duke would no more have a Scottish accent than I would...

hivemindneeded · 06/12/2021 14:45

I loved Love Hard so tried Holidate (at home in PJs with suspected Covid right now). I hated Holidate. I thought he was such a horrible character. All those outdated Hollywood tropes of negging a woman and shoving people out of the way because you getting your man at the end is the only thing that matters, and then that cheesy bit with the microphone. Ew. (Sorry OP. Judging the film, not you.) Love Hard didn't fall into any of those traps and was so sweet as a result.

ThePontiacBandit · 06/12/2021 19:48

I watched Love Hard after reading this thread…it left me a bit Confused because there’s that old Hollywood tripe that it’s fine to lie about who you are for ages because people will fall for the “real you” after you reveal you’ve been lying.

However I watched “Single all the way” today. I thought it was going to be really cheesy but actually it’s adorable and heart-warming and I highly recommend it!

Watapalava · 06/12/2021 20:03

Please watch home for Christmas - honestly you will not regret it! Bet Xmas thing on Netflix at the minute

CrimbleCrumble1 · 06/12/2021 22:32

Watapalava
I just finished series 2, I watched series 1 last year Christmas and saved series 2 for this year. I loved it.

BustedCanOfBiscuits · 07/12/2021 01:00

Give Blithe Spirit a swerve, the only redeeming feature was the lead's absolutely gorgeous house. Even Dame Judi couldn't save it, and I normally like all those actors
