Well we had a hall floor finally laid in January the fitter insisted that he had to wear a mask employer insisted I felt sorry for him three solid days laying herringbone karndean

ChristmasP · 28/11/2021 23:08

@Outlyingtrout

Are you following her from room to room and in close proximity? Surely you leave her to it while she's working. I don't think it's reasonable to ask someone doing a hard manual job to wear a mask. Just stay out of her way.
I open all windows and I try to stay out of her way as much as possible

I work for test and protect in Scotland and if a cleaner was in someone’s house and didn’t wear a mask they would be a contact of the positive case so 100 % if I was the cleaner I would wear a mask

No.
I don't stand facing her, nor do we sit in a room together.
She did offer when she first came back after the first lockdown but I said she didn't need to on my account. It would be very uncomfortable doing physical work in a mask.

llm24 · 28/11/2021 23:17

@Kite22

In Scotland for test and protect it doesn’t matter if your not facing them or not even in the same room - if the cleaner is in your house and not wearing PPE they are a contact
Maybe it’s different if u are England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

HermioneWeasley · 28/11/2021 23:22

Covid is spread by close physical contact. Keep out of her way and you’ll be fine

Kite22 · 28/11/2021 23:23

My understanding is, if they are in your house you would be a contact anyway, mask or not.

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/11/2021 23:24

Perfectly reasonable to ask her to wear a mask. Presumably, you wear one whilst she’s in your house too?!

Shannonz · 28/11/2021 23:30

Yes of course you have the right to ask her to wear a mask although if you are not wearing one as well regardless of the reason then I think you are being pretty unreasonable
Surely you can just stay in one room while she cleans the rest of the house and then move to a different room when she finishes off

MrsAmaretto · 28/11/2021 23:46

No, but I stay in my office and just pop out to say “Hi and Bye” and keep a few meters away.

Had an electrician doing work on Friday and he wore a mask so I put one on too. He said I don’t need too as it was my house :) but it felt rude not to! I opened a window and left him to it once we had the initial chat, so he maybe took it off at that point?

BrilliantBetty · 29/11/2021 10:05

No. I haven't and won't be asking that.

Chewbecca · 29/11/2021 10:26

No, just maintain distancing

FlowerArranger · 29/11/2021 10:31

I am not able to but I just wasn’t sure if people coming into the house should

Sorry...... come again??!!! Confused

Madmog · 29/11/2021 10:40

There's nothing wrong with suggesting you all wear masks while she's in the house, it'll protect your family and her. Also, if you're concerned, it might not be a bad idea to open windows before she arrives.

BurbageBrook · 29/11/2021 10:54

Hang on, you’re not able to wear a mask (why?!) but expect her to? So hypocritical!

BlackCatTabbyCat · 29/11/2021 11:13

I'm a cleaner and I wear a mask but I'll be honest it's mostly for show and once I'm in a different room from the client I pull it down or take it off or if its a house where the client isn't home I don't wear it all. When I first started I had it on all the time but I've had covid recently so since then I've not been as strict with wearing it which is wrong I suppose. I do find it difficult wearing it while running around cleaning but if a client specifically asked me to make sure I had it on at all times then I would do it. They are paying me at the end of the day.

SallyWD · 29/11/2021 11:31

Mine does but whenever she thinks I'm not looking I can see she pulls it down . I don't mention it.

WorryMcGee · 29/11/2021 11:33

No, definitely not. If she wanted to wear one I wouldn’t say anything but I certainly don’t expect her to.

BudgeSquare · 29/11/2021 11:35

Why don't you wear a mask?

Juniper68 · 29/11/2021 11:43

You can't yet expect her to? Ridiculous.

3WildOnes · 29/11/2021 11:48

Only if everyone in your household, including children, wear one for the duration of her visit too.

Insertfunnyname · 29/11/2021 11:49

No and I wouldn’t dream of asking her. You should keep out of her way when she’s in the house if you’re worried.

ChristmasP · 29/11/2021 13:29

It’s a private medical reason

She’s here next on Wednesday so i will text her today and see how she feels about it

Hoppinggreen · 29/11/2021 13:34

Mine doesn’t and I wouldn’t expect her too.
Mind you we are in different rooms apart from when she arrives and says hello or if I take her a cuppa later and we are never in the same room with the door closed

Toddlerteaplease · 29/11/2021 13:34

No. I don't care either way.
