Which "old" movies to watch?

Inspired by the thread on here where people were posting pics of hot "older" actors like Paul Newman, Marlon Brando, Robert Redford...made me realise how I know of these actors but have never watched any of there movies. What's on your must watch list? Planning on hibernating over Xmas:)

Most Hitchcock films are good.

Mildred Pierce with Joan Crawford if you like a bit of melodrama.

Anything with the gorgeous and talented Paul Newman, particular favourite of mine is Hud with with the equally talented Patricia Neal.

Also anything with the handsome and talented Sidney Poitier, a fantastic actor and drop dead gorgeous, a real class act. Two of his many excellent films I would recommend are:- "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" and "In the Heat of The Night".

Wish there a like button on Mumsnet. This is one of my favourite films of all time.

I read an article a week or so ago and Sidney Poitier never got an Oscar- and even more shocking he did not even get nominated for one. I think it said Rod Steiger got one for ITHOTN and other films SP was in got best picture, best screen play - but nothing for him - hard to believe.

Random Harvest - lovely film with Greer Garson. Also Mrs Miniver, again, with Greer.
