90s teen/40th memories box

Hello,

My sister is 40 in December and I want to do a memory box of her teenage years..

I'm 4 years young and remember some things she liked such as music and smash hits magazine (!) Which I'm sourcing on the Internet.

If you were born early 80s and a teen in the 90s, can you please jog my memory of what you liked and were into please? 😁

Nobody else used to wear The Sweater Shop jumpers? And United Colours of Benetton?

A yellow and blue bedroom covered with suns and moons.

Record bags and bomber jackets. Eastpak and Jansport rucksacks. Babydoll dresses, especially the spaghetti-strap ones worn over a white t-shirt. Velvet clothing… bootcut jeans that trailed in the filth… boys with hair in curtains and girls with two strands of hair ‘to frame the face’. Or a Rachel1from-Friends haircut.

You are an absolute gem. I’ve had this song stuck in my head for a few months, even wrote it down in my phone to try to remember. I kept singing similar words like “complication do do do”

Also, not sure if it’s been mentioned but slap bands! I grew up in Australia and I’m two years older than your sister and as well as everything else people have said, slap bands were all the rage!

You're lucky as the styles have come back into fashion. I spotted a teenager last night wearing exactly what I did on a night out in 1998. Complete with chunky platforms, mini skirt, scrunchie and black velvet puffy jacket.
