How to transport tired 4 year old?

PurplePikachu · 27/11/2021 18:53

DS who is 4 and petite is very tired at the end of the school day and can’t manage the walk home (25 mins for an adult).

I don’t think he’d agree to go in the old buggy although he’s quite petite so would fit.

Any genius products that he can ride and I can push him along without him feeling like a baby? Like the trikes with handles that toddlers have but a bit more grown up?

Scooter with a strap?

Kfjsjdbd · 27/11/2021 18:55

Yep I would go scooter with a strap that you can pull.

TeenMinusTests · 27/11/2021 18:56

Bike with stabilisers with a strap.

I know the trend these days is for balance bikes then straight to no stabilisers, but it would look 'grown up'.

If you have a bike, he could go in a child seat?

TurnUpTurnip · 27/11/2021 18:57

Let me know when you find out! I have this dilemma so we have to use the pushchair, dd is ok with that and doesn’t mind but I searched and searched for something a bit more grown up but couldn’t find any trikes that had a parent handle that were suitable for 4 year olds, only for toddlers, someone mentioned a wagon to me but I would rather stick with the pushchair, scooter with strap didn’t work for us it wouldn’t pull along right and was going all over the place it was impossible to pull

Could you ride a bike with a child seat on the back?

A kid at a group we go to has one of these, everyone seems to think is cool.

Dtukvg · 27/11/2021 19:00

My daughter sits on top of the baby’s pram. Otherwise I carry her on my back

Dtukvg · 27/11/2021 19:02

A folding wagon?

SinoohXaenaHide · 27/11/2021 19:02

The mini micro scooter has an optional seat attachment but she might be fine to just stand on the platform and you can pull her along with the strap. She might cheer up and start scooting once you are half way home.

TheCanyon · 27/11/2021 19:03

If he's really petite then a mini micro scooter with the seat.

fishfingerSarnies · 27/11/2021 19:05

A scooter with adjustable handle so I can lift it up to a height that’s not uncomfortable to pull along, he then stands on it.

ThePoisonousMushroom · 27/11/2021 19:05

He’d have to be very petite… we had to take the seat off DS’s before he was 2 as his legs were too long for it.

We have one of these. It might be a bit young, but is more like a scooter, and I think it converts to a normal scooter. We have it for DS age 3, but DD age 5 rides it too.

That unirider thing looks amazing!

Or, a bus?

TurnUpTurnip · 27/11/2021 19:08

Yeh those micro scooters are teeny tiny I doubt he would fit my daughter is very small but they look tiny I don’t think a kid above 3 would fit on one! Shame they don’t make them for older kids

Cotswoldmama · 27/11/2021 19:09

I'm petite and my 5 year old is far from it but I just carry him! It's quicker and I get to sit down quicker!

OGenkiDesuKa · 27/11/2021 19:11

If he’s small a carrier? My daughter was small and I carried her until she was 5 in a connecta carrier.

girafferafferaffe · 27/11/2021 19:12

I end up carrying my dd. She's a July baby so really is just only 4. I get her to walk a certain amount and then I'll carry her. Either on my hip or on my shoulders.

RaisinFlapjack · 27/11/2021 19:27

As long he’s got the energy to stand, I’d a mini micro scooter with a strap. Strap makes it quite comfortable for an adult to pull along, and obviously he can enjoy it independently.

If he’s too knackered for standing, one of those folding canvas carts. Also has lots of other uses (beach, camping, garden etc) so you should get use out of it.

totorostoes · 27/11/2021 19:34

A toddler Onbuhimo, Lenny lamb make nice ones. They’re really compact too and not at all bulky, just put them on like a backpack

Bryna · 27/11/2021 19:36

A boy at our school has a standard bike but with a parent handle.
