If I loved the old Serial podcast about Adnan, what other podcasts would I enjoy?

I'm on a 3 hour journey and would like something similar, does anyone have any recommendations?

In the dark
Accused
S town
There are various excellent NBC and LA times podcasts - there's something about Pam, detective trapp etc
All are investigative journalism

Bad blood
Crypto queen

FromEden · 26/11/2021 05:09

Dirty John, case file, red-handed, root of evil, and if you want to laugh, last podcast on the left.

Porridgeislife · 26/11/2021 05:13

Definitely The Teacher’s Pet (Australian).

Another nomination for casefile

For me, West Cork and I’m not a monster.

@pairsinparis

Oh absolutely, do you *@CandleWick4* ?
I don’t know? I can’t get past Jay knowing where the car was and the Nisha call. It’s such an interesting case isn’t it?
NutellaFitzgerald · 26/11/2021 15:08

A piece equally as good as Serial Annan Syed piece is by a true crime podcast Casefile. In
particular, the 3-parter on Silk Road. Gripping.
Casefile mostly deals in murders and how they were solved, but The Silk Road is dark web related and drugs and crypto currencies.

SilkRoad

Starcaller · 26/11/2021 15:09

Bear Brook
Someone Knows Something

LondonPainter · 26/11/2021 15:10

In the dark

The second series especially is incredible journalism and made a difference to the outcome of the case.

JudyGemstone · 26/11/2021 15:12

I thought the journalist sounded all giddy and kind of horny for Adnan which was weird!

I think he’s guilty fwiw.

AtomicBlondeRose · 26/11/2021 15:39

A bit of a wild card but The Battersea Poltergeist is the first one I've found as gripping as Serial or S-Town - obviously not true crime but based on a true story with loads of great twists and turns.

SuspiciousSushi · 26/11/2021 16:40

Highly recommend Sweet Bobby - the most amazing catfishing story you've ever heard!

autumnkate · 26/11/2021 16:48

In the Dark is so so good, especially the second series

1wilma1 · 26/11/2021 16:50

Another recommendation for Sweet Bobby!

SuperbOwls · 26/11/2021 16:52

Amber Hunt's crime podcasts are very good. I like crimes of the centuries but she has a few others

Amaouttahere · 26/11/2021 16:55

The Great Post Office Trial.
About the recent case of how postmasters were prosecuted for fraud when it was down to poor IT software. Really interesting.

PurpleDaisies · 26/11/2021 16:59

This is what I was going to recommend. Unbelievable that it could happen here.

The Dropout is good on similar lines. There have been recent episodes covering the trial. That’s about Theranos in America.

There was a good series about Canadian indigenous women being murdered which was really eye opening. I can’t remember the name (helpful).

OhWhyNot · 26/11/2021 17:45

Shrink Next Door is really good have just finished it

Crime Junkie
Bad Women
Cold

I’m just starting to listen to The Phantom Marine

One that has really stuck with me is Down the Hill. It’s not the best produced podcast but the story is so sad and baffling (two young teenagers go missing on a local trail found dead the next day they have a photo, recording (him saying down the hill) and video of him (maybe two seconds) of the suspect but still can’t trace him. This is a very small close knit town they were from

I also love Things You Should Know

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 26/11/2021 18:12

S-town has very much the same sort of feel as do
Slow burn
The dream
Unfinished
Dirty John
The post office trial
Toxic the Britney Spears story

Im not usually one for true crime but I found fred and rose west the unheard tapes informative and reflective.

Odile13 · 26/11/2021 18:17

Cold (about the disappearance of Susan Powell) is excellent.

Agree with previous suggestions Bear Brook, A-Town, The Teacher’s Pet and Death in Ice Valley

Odile13 · 26/11/2021 18:18

*S-Town not A-Town!
