What's happening to my body?

I have had problems for years now with heavy periods and anemia. I have tried hormones. Tried transexamic acid and eventually the Dr was sick of the sight of me and referred me. The gynecology department have cancelled every clinic since July so I've simply not been able to get seen.

I've started a new relationship and I stay over at his 3 times a week. My period has caused me to have to stay home on occasions and so I decided to try transexamic acid again last month. It worked. Light flow barely there. Finished a day early. Stayed at my boyfriends all week. We had sex twice and I began spotting the next day. Put it down to sex. But then it continued on and off and we couldn't have sex all month. I started taking transexamic last Saturday when my next period kicked in.

Took it for 4 days. Stopped it Thursday and my body has gone mad. I poured with blood for 6 hours Friday night. Lost large clots and soaked through pads hourly. By morning I was too weak to stand up. I was dizzy. Stayed in bed all day yesterday. Cancelled seeing my boyfriend.

Then today I'm still bleeding. Heads whooshing. Hearts in my ears. Exhausted. Can't walk far. Feel I could pass out. I feel absolutely horrible. Got two young children and thank goodness their dads around to help.

I've never been so bad and don't know what I should do?

I would phone 111 for advice

feliznavidad2 · 21/11/2021 15:52

I'd suggest ringing 111, if not attending A&E. It sounds as if you're anaemic, and that you've lost a lot of blood. You need proper assessment. Thanks

SergeiL · 21/11/2021 15:54

I think you need to be seen ASAP. I would consider A&E to be honest.

YouHaveNoAuthorityHereJackie · 21/11/2021 15:58

Is there any chance you were pregnant and you’ve miscarried? Sorry to ask. This happened to me and it was an emergency, I was absolutely pouring blood, couldn’t get off the loo. Needed a d &c and a very large blood transfusion and felt bloody awful for months afterwards trying to get my iron count back up. I’d really recommend 111 too, that’s who I called and they called the ambulance based on how much blood I’d lost and thank god they did.

Santastuckincustoms · 21/11/2021 16:02

Have you had the covid booster? My period went like that in the 3-4 months after the vaccine. Horrendous flooding.

HemanOrSheRa · 21/11/2021 16:04

I'd ring 111 and expect them to tell you to go to A&E. Bleeding through pads hourly is a medical emergency. It could be sign of an infection. Please ring 111 or just go to A&E.

Bobbybobbins · 21/11/2021 16:06

Please ring 111

Ddraigmawr · 21/11/2021 16:09

Could be endometriosis?

I've had to take transexamic acid for non stop bleeding before when I didn't stop bleeding for weeks.

I've also lost huge amounts of blood and clots.

My endometriosis got worse with age too.

Helpstopthepain · 21/11/2021 16:11

You need to see a doctor

Crumpetsandhoney · 21/11/2021 16:13

You need a scan at least. The acids didn't help me I turned out to have fibroid
In the meantime I would ask to go on a pill run continuously to stop periods.

Crumpetsandhoney · 21/11/2021 16:20

I had similar issues I had a two week period in half an hour whilst on acids.

CorrBlimeyGG · 21/11/2021 16:24

I'd be going to A&E, or at least calling 111 for advice.

DixiePeach · 21/11/2021 16:25

How old are you? I had similar and you have my sympathy. I had northisterone to stop a 3 month bleed after transexamic did nothing but turned heavy bleeding to huge clots. So far so good.

I’ve got a small fibroid but think it’s down to peri menopause.

ThirdElephant · 21/11/2021 16:28

Call 111. Sounds like you've lost a lot of blood and I'd be surprised if they don't call you in to A and E.

ShrinkingViolet9 · 21/11/2021 16:32

Have you had ultrasound in the past to rule out fibroids and/or uterine polyps?

Somebodylikeyew · 21/11/2021 16:35

I actually think this is an A&E job. That much blood loss IS an emergency.

ComDummings · 21/11/2021 16:36

That’s a lot of blood loss, I also say call 111 at the least if not A&E

3luckystars · 21/11/2021 16:37

You need to be medically assessed today. URGENTLY.

What medication are you on? Can you take the progesterone only pill?

ThirdElephant · 21/11/2021 16:56

@ComDummings

That’s a lot of blood loss, I also say call 111 at the least if not A&E
I agree with you, but at least one of the first 111 questions is designed to identify excessive blood loss.
ThirdElephant · 21/11/2021 16:56

Oh, and don't forget OP, you can do 111 online

GoodnightGrandma · 21/11/2021 16:58

Definitely 111.

Wargghhhh · 21/11/2021 16:59

Ditto everyone else. You may need a blood transfusion (I did with similar). Please make sure you are seen asap!

The90swerethebest · 21/11/2021 18:11

Thanks everyone. I can't take hormones. I end up with nausea and feeling anxious and have panic attacks on them. I had a year of trying pills and no luck. Had a scan just before covid just one small fibroid which apparently wouldn't cause my issue. My periods are every 24 days. I'm 32 and this isn't linked to a covid jab no.

If I do 111 online is that like a chat service? Thank you.

Dr's never offer me transfusions. My level was 6 last year and they still just gave me pills and I had to just be weak for weeks on end.

111 will send an ambulance

You need to be seen tonight
