What's happening to my body?

I have had problems for years now with heavy periods and anemia. I have tried hormones. Tried transexamic acid and eventually the Dr was sick of the sight of me and referred me. The gynecology department have cancelled every clinic since July so I've simply not been able to get seen.

I've started a new relationship and I stay over at his 3 times a week. My period has caused me to have to stay home on occasions and so I decided to try transexamic acid again last month. It worked. Light flow barely there. Finished a day early. Stayed at my boyfriends all week. We had sex twice and I began spotting the next day. Put it down to sex. But then it continued on and off and we couldn't have sex all month. I started taking transexamic last Saturday when my next period kicked in.

Took it for 4 days. Stopped it Thursday and my body has gone mad. I poured with blood for 6 hours Friday night. Lost large clots and soaked through pads hourly. By morning I was too weak to stand up. I was dizzy. Stayed in bed all day yesterday. Cancelled seeing my boyfriend.

Then today I'm still bleeding. Heads whooshing. Hearts in my ears. Exhausted. Can't walk far. Feel I could pass out. I feel absolutely horrible. Got two young children and thank goodness their dads around to help.

I've never been so bad and don't know what I should do?

The thing is when I've been bad before I've gone to my gp barely able to walk from the car and I was sent away with iron tablets. They never seem concerned even when I can't move it's always hormone pills. I've never been offered to be seen for transfusions etc. I don't need an ambulance but I do feel pretty rubbish.

I think what you’re saying about your doctors attitude doesn’t make this normal or ok, it just speaks volumes about the misogyny that seems to surround women’s medical problems. It’s appalling it’s not taken more seriously. I posted earlier about my miscarriage, which was about 5 years ago, but I’m now having issues similar to you and can’t get any doctor to even refer me. Covid is the excuse, but tbh it’s always been like this ime. I was referred to gynaecology about 6 months after my miscarriage as I had non stop bleeding throughout that time, and was told my problem was obviously emotional and was given a leaflet. I mean wtf. This thread has made me angry all over again. No one should have to put up with this. The flooding I’ve had for the last year is absurd. The idea were just meant to put up and shut up is just so frustrating

@Somebodylikeyew

I actually think this is an A&E job. That much blood loss IS an emergency.
I agree.

You need to go to hospital, you won't be the first woman who ends up there with extreme blood loss from periods.

When I saw the GP with similar symptoms, but without the blood loss, I was sent straight to the assessment unit at the hospital. So with the blood loss, you need to be seen and I know that is hard when you have been sent away before, but you cannot ignore this.

Did you speak to anyone @The90swerethebest?

My GP told me my massive blood loss was fine and not to bother him again...

Years later diagnosed with endometriosis (and cysts, fibroids, polyps along the way)

You have to be your own advocate, many GPs are terrible with things like this. Not all, but too many in my experience.

honeyfox · 21/11/2021 20:09

Fibroids can grow surprisingly quickly. I had terrible periods during Covid and am getting my fibroid out in a few weeks time. Went from a small one to 6cms in 3 years. Have had several occasions I thought I would end up in A&E due to the horrendous blood loss, on cyklokapron and ponstan now to control it.

OP, how are you?
