Decided it's about time to ditch the CD player Blush and get up to date. What do you recommend for buying music digitally, and for playing it at home?

I have a Google Mini in every room of the house. Except bathroom and toilets.
Cant live without them.

I've got a gadget that means that my old Bose sounddock can bluetooth to my phone - I'm playing spotify through it at the moment, Also have wireless earbuds (Huawei) which I use if I'm moving round the house

From what I can work out NightmareSlashDelightful some Sonos do have Alexa built in now some still don't. I don't know if that's definitely right though. That doesn't sound great about the app.

Can see now why I stuck with the CD player for so long! there's a lot to be said for it. Plus I've got loads of CDs.

I remember the fuss about the uplifted and sonos but I'll be honest and didn't look to much into it. Or system is older, doesn't include and alexa or any voice activation etc and works fine with the updated app.

I think sonos had to recant after all the complaints from old customers who were very vocal

There's a lot to be said for the old ways! Sonos is fantastic when it works. But when it doesn't it's extremely frustrating, and very hard to solve.

There are so many possible points of failure. It could be
faulty speaker
the strength of your wifi signal
interference from neighbouring wifi
faulty router
problem with ISP
speed of broadband
problem with phone
problem with app

And whichever of these it actually is, the people responsible will swear black-and-blue that it's everything else that's wrong!

I just play via my phone and stick it in my back pocket of my jeans (microphone side up) that way whatever room I'm in i always have music. Simple and cheap Grin
