Morning all! What's everyone doing today?

I'm in my spot, in the kitchen, drinking my usual cuppa, in silence apart from the fridge humming & a dog barking somewhere.

Both girls are still sleeping but I'll get them up soon-ish. We need to go to Asda for something for tea tonight, and the beginning of the week.

I need to iron, wash up last night's few pots and sweep/mop the floors down here. Dd1 has homework and revision; she'll likely come down and sit with me while she does the homework.

Dd2 wants to carry on watching His Dark Materials so she'll probably do that after Asda.

I need to work out my Christmas shopping costs to go alongside my list & when I'll buy what. I bought the girls' stocking fillers yesterday, and a couple of small things for their dad.

Hopefully I'll find time to carry on with part of my crochet Christmas village, later on.

Not sure what's for tea yet, but I'll probably have a glass of wine with it.

What about all of you? :)

Love these threads 😃

We need to go to tescos at some point today for some food shopping. My new livingroom blinds should go up today and just a general tidy of the house. Also have some clothes to take to the clothing bank but will do that on the way to tesco. May take DS for a walk this afternoon for some fresh air. Have a nice weekend all 😁

YesThisIsMe · 20/11/2021 09:49

I'm quite excited to be having a Proper Cultural Day Out rather than just mooching around south London as usual. We watched the Bridget Riley doc on BBC2 last night and have been inspired to book a slot at the National Gallery today and check out her installation and a couple of the works which inspired her. Also I'll have a look at the gift shop for stocking fillers - I love a pre-Christmas browse in museum shop for present shopping, but it's a pain to have to book a free ticket online before you can enter the building.

That's in the afternoon, so while DH has a run this morning I'll do some tidying and maybe sprint down to Primark Tooting to return something.

JustCheesz · 20/11/2021 09:49

Just enjoying a coffee with DCat2 on my lap. Then prising DS (15) out of bed for a 6th form college open day. Next stop is the foot place for his verucca's. He's been going every fortnight since August and still they linger.

After that I'm heading into town to do some Christmas shopping. I'll let DS off the the hook though and go by myself.

Itwasgoodwhileitlasted · 20/11/2021 09:49

Doing a couple of hours of fundraising for a charity. DH is going to clean the kitchen. Then going to pick up a new car. Film tonight with the teen and some posh nibbles.

Kim82 · 20/11/2021 10:06

It’s a day of cleaning and organising for me today. My food shop has just been delivered so the fridges and cupboards are stocked for the week, I need to catch up on washing (2nd load out of 4 is currently in the washer), the house needs cleaning top to bottom as not one single room is tidy then I need to nip into town to return a top I bought last week.

Dh is off work today so he is around to help clean and entertain the 7 year old - he mentioned taking her swimming this afternoon if he can get them booked in. Teen dds can sort their own rooms and ds(20) said he is coming round to visit this afternoon too.

Then tonight I think dh is going out (he’s not 100% decided yet but I’d rather he did 🤣) so me and the girls will watch a film with chocolate and I will have wine.

badlydrawnbear · 20/11/2021 10:10

Currently, trying to decide if DC2 is coughing enough to need another trip to the Covid testing centre. We are all still in pyjamas. I hadn’t realised it was so late.

headinthecloudsnow · 20/11/2021 10:18

Currently having a coffee with DDs are watching frozen 2. We need to pop to the library in the village later then I'll take them for a hot chocolate as DH is away so it's just me and them for a few weeks. Then it'll be home and chill for the afternoon before I watch strictly with a pizza. Bliss.

headinthecloudsnow · 20/11/2021 10:19

*while

Justonedayatatime11 · 20/11/2021 10:24

I'm still laying in bed whilst DH and DD are downstairs having breakfast. Need to get up soon to sort the menagerie before taking DD to her riding lesson at 2.30. Quick change of clothes and then we'll head into the city for pizza and a look at the Christmas lights. We rarely seem to have a weekend of doing not a lot so I'm looking forward to it!

LadyCampanulaTottington · 20/11/2021 10:28

DH has started to pack the car for a trip to the dump. Then we’re going to go drop my winter coats at the dry cleaners and buy cat food.

The garden centre opened their Christmas shop she we’ll take a ramble around that. Need to go to the supermarket to get food for tonight. I’ll probably get carrots and hummus, cocktail sausage etc.

DD and her girlfriend are staying here tonight so we’ll watch a film together and I’ll make home made popcorn.

Amdone123 · 20/11/2021 10:30

I love reading what everybody is up to.
I can't decide between having a lazy day or going for a 2 hour hike !
I think the latter may win as I was stuck in yesterday feeling awful ( had booster Thursday. Arm was throbbing and I felt so sick).
So I think I'll get up and go out. Dh just brought me breakfast in bed which was a lovely start to the day.

Aderyn21 · 20/11/2021 10:32

Was rudely awoken by the cats at 6, so fed them, made coffee and came back to bed. Cat proceeded to help herself to the cream in the coffee!
Need to do a food shop today so going to clean the fridge first (oh the glamour!)
A quiet day for us I think - dh was away all last week and has a lot of driving next week so want him to have a restful weekend.
Might rent the new Bond film off sky cinema this evening.

headinthecloudsnow · 20/11/2021 10:34

I might also take them to the local garden centre to look at their Christmas display. It's a lovely small local one so hopefully won't be too busy.

headinthecloudsnow · 20/11/2021 10:35

@lucysmam interested what your spot in the kitchen is? I feel like I need a spot too.

VioletCharlotte · 20/11/2021 10:37

I'm enjoying a coffee after a gym class. Going to the hairdressers shortly to get my colour done, then my friend is coming over this afternoon for a catch up. Need to find time to do some cleaning and laundry at some point, I hate waking up on a Sunday and knowing I've got the whole lot to do!

JorisBonson · 20/11/2021 10:38

DH and I just had breakfast in bed after a bit of a late night.

Going to pick up a rig doctor shortly then out for pizza tonight.

KeyLimePies · 20/11/2021 10:47

Morning all.

I was up at 7am to feed moggy, then back to bed, with several cups of tea, whilst reading the news, emails and perusing MN.

Going to get up properly soon and set up a mesh Wi-Fi system to boost the wifi signal around my home. It’s apparently very easy to set up. We shall see Halloween Hmm

lucysmam · 20/11/2021 10:51

@headinthecloudsnow my spot is the corner chair, at the table, next to the tins cupboard.

My notebook, diary, shopping list, post-it's and several pens live on my corner of the table. And I stash my "Mum book" where I keep Christmas lists/birthday present ideas/book ideas for dd2, under the table on the chair that is permanently tucked under the table.

I sit here to craft too! It's like my "Command Centre"!

DH and I argued last night so things are frosty this morning.

We’re having coffee in bed right now and later he’ll do some work on our staircase and I’ll do some clearing out/listing things on eBay.

I’ve not got anything else planned. Actually, taking a peek at previous comments has reminded me that I need to clean the fridge.

I don’t know what we’re going to have for dinner, haven’t bothered to think about it yet. Might make a chorizo, butter bean and spinach stew with ciabatta on the side.

I also need to check and make a list of ingredients needed for making our Christmas pudding tomorrow.

Sometime in the day I guess DH and I will make up.

Amdone123 · 20/11/2021 11:10

@HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule, make up now !!🤣💘
Oohh the stew sounds lovely. I've finally got my cooking mojo back ( Lockdown knocked it out of me), so I might have a go of that.
P.s......go on.......Life's too short. Grin

PhilCornwall1 · 20/11/2021 11:23

Been up since 2am, dosed up on codeine, so buzzing at the moment. Beds changed and two loads of bedding washed. Will clean downstairs in a bit, but not my normal crazy weekend clean, it just doesn't need it.

Mrs PC has done the ASDA run and off into town for a bit. Cleaning will be finished by the time she gets back.

This afternoon we shall sit down, have an afternoon glass or two of something and a nice chat.

May not be super exciting for some, but we like it.

Shedmistress · 20/11/2021 11:29

We moved to France 3 weeks ago so today I am finishing off making two raised beds and planting out onion sets. And then popping to the local boulangerie for bread and some pies for Sunday dinner tomorrow.

It's a beautiful day, blue skies and no clouds. Gorgeous.

Morning all! What's everyone doing today?
Peridot1 · 20/11/2021 11:39

Love these threads!

I’ve just been lazy so far this morning. Still in pjs. Had boiled eggs and toast for breakfast.

About to empty the dishwasher and tidy the kitchen and will go for a shower after. Then putting some washing on and some away. Maybe sorting through some games in the cupboard in the living room as I want to get rid of it. DS is now 20 so lots of the games we have just don’t get used now. Will keep some favourites and charity shop the rest this week.

Have my Covid booster this afternoon so not planning much after that. Hoping to be ok but a lazy afternoon with some magazines on the sofa is the plan whatever!

No idea about dinner yet. Something from the freezer I think as it’s a bit full!

DentalWorries · 20/11/2021 11:39

This is our last free weekend before the craziness of Christmas activities start. All the days out with friends and family are my favourite part but I know the next month is going to be exhausting so I’m relishing a relaxing weekend.
DP is at work until late afternoon so I’m still chilling in bed and for once not killing myself getting the house spotless for the weekend. Then later we’ll go over to his Mum’s for cake for his sisters birthday and then home for homemade pizzas.
I was planning a duvet day for tomorrow but I know we’ll get bored and feel like we’ve wasted the day so maybe a trip out somewhere nearby in the morning. Also trying to save a bit of cash as we’ve got so much on over the next few weeks which will involve lots of eating and drinking out.

TheSunIsStillShining · 20/11/2021 11:40

on my 2nd cup of coffee. Already done:

  • fridge full clean
  • kitchen cupboards bimonthly(ish) everything out/back in clean
  • changed bedding on our bed - with cats help: 40 mins :) but she was cute and gave me cuddles and played hide and seek
  • washing machine is loaded and on
  • ensuite bathroom cleaned
  • fed H and son (with son's bday cake from wed, so not much to do, but still :) )
  • watched an episode of stargate whilst cleaning fridge
  • loaded the washing machine - as if it was some privilege that only I can undertake....
  • ate half a bar of chocolate

the rest of the day is at least half fun. Not fun:

  • have to go to big waitrose 40mins away as they have specific gf thing I want in proper quantity - for a week. It's in a big mall, which I hate.
  • pick up meat from local butcher
  • pick up fruit and veggies from local shop
  • cook dinner (or ask H to do it)

fun

  • the WHS in the mall carry the bassist magazine and I'm hoping the nov issue is out
  • I might do a big detour to guilford to try out a 5 string bass that I had my eye on for months now, but never had time to go and check it out. Might be next week again.... I don't have money for it anyway, so it is really about playing with it for a bit, nothing else.
  • driving around, music cranked up, being alone to some extent
