Woman given restraining order for ‘feeding horse’..

Stath · 19/11/2021 14:17

There are frequent threads on MN about idiotic behaviour by the public when it comes to other people’s animals.
I’m very pleased to read that this woman has been taken to court although I wonder if she’d have been made to pay vets’ costs/compensation if her acts had killed or made the horse require treatment?
Not sure this will serve as a deterrent to many people though who have the mindset of ‘a carrot/potato/handful of grass won’t do any harm’ but it’ll hopefully do some good.

Good, hopefully it will stop other people feeding horses that don't belong to them 👏🏼

CatrinVennastin · 19/11/2021 14:35

Good.

My sis in law's horse died after eating a plastic bag. Even with a ton of signs up they keep catching people feeding their horses and going into the field with them.

They have a double fence but folk just climb over it.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 19/11/2021 14:41

Good. A local 'fairy pony' - pure white feathery mane and legs - that was a big favourite with disabled kids died a bloody awful death last year. All because some soft arse thought the 'Do not feed' signs weren't for them!

HeyFloof · 19/11/2021 14:56

Good. Nobody should be feeding other peoples pets.

LolaSmiles · 19/11/2021 14:58

Good.
An owner near me had to put signs up during lockdown asking the general public to leave their horses alone.

Unfortunately there's some idiots out there who think any animal is a ready made petting zoo for them and/or their kids.

alloalloallo · 19/11/2021 15:07

Good.

I’m sick of people feeding my horses despite very clear signage and I’m fed up with the abuse when I very politely ask people to stop.

Sundancerintherain · 19/11/2021 15:55

I'm glad but reading her comments she really cant see that she has done anything wrong.
Maybe a court ordered viewing of an autopsy of a horse who has died of idiot induced colic perhaps ?

Unreasonabubble · 19/11/2021 16:00

I think there is a little more to her than meets the eye. This is quote from another newspaper report.

In March 2005 Northallerton magistrates heard Mrs Porter lost her temper after her estranged brother, William, laughed at her while driving past in his Land Rover.

She flung three sticks of rhubarb from her cottage window, catching him in the right eye with one of them.

The court ordered Porter to do 40 hours' community service and barred her from entering property belonging to her son, with whom she has also fallen out.

Newnameforabit · 19/11/2021 16:04

Good, hope other people learn from this
Never feed other peoples animals

Lorw · 19/11/2021 16:14

👏👏👏👏

Sundancerintherain · 19/11/2021 16:14

Some idiots people see horses as a sort of community property.

Like the idiot who my sil caught trying to feed Skittles to her Shetland like he was a fucking unicorn Angry. And yes, she got a mouthful of abuse when she asked them to stop .

Kuachui · 19/11/2021 16:26

i know a horse that died from someone feeding them mars bars...

there were tons of the small doze mars bar wrappers all over the field

RiderGirl · 19/11/2021 18:13

I'm lucky in that my horse is fussy and won't eat anything except her normal feed (wouldn't eat a Mars bar for example) BUT I'd go batshit if I found anyone trying to feed her anything, or her field mates who are greedier!

At what point will these entitled idiots learn?!

This is like if Enid Blyton wrote crime fiction. Assault with rhubarb through a cottage window 😏

This is like if Enid Blyton wrote crime fiction.

She did.
Never read the Famous Five?

Contains picture of deceased pony.

Ignorance is one thing but to ignore signs is downright evil.

Libertaire · 19/11/2021 18:38

Good.

And well done to the Mirror for publicising this.

Honeyroar · 19/11/2021 18:38

That’s brilliant! A local lady to me lost her beautiful pony because people threw a potato into the field.

1FootInTheRave · 19/11/2021 19:12

Good.

My friends horse died after some idiot put grass clippings in the field.

Maverickess · 19/11/2021 19:35

Good.
There were a few horses near me that either had serious colic with the pain that goes with it (and not to mention the vet bills) or died as a result of people feeding them.
They all had signs up, but people either think they know better or just don't care about the concequences for the horse or the owner, they just want to do what they want. I've had a gobfull before when asking people not to feed the horses where mine is, more than once. Not so keen to leave their details should their actions cause a vet bill though.

Theyellowflamingo · 19/11/2021 20:26

Good. I loathe people who feed other people’s animals without permission. People would never dream of going up to a complete stranger’s child in a playground, cuddling them and handing them a giant ice cream - this is no different. A few people sued for vet bills and prominently featured in the media might put others off.

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 19/11/2021 21:30

I don't generally go near horses as I'm a bit wary of them, certainly not close enough to feed them but why is feeding them grass bad? Don't they eat grass anyway?
