Very boring subject alert Grin

If you've found this page in search of tights that have been tried and tested by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best tights useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ

Whoops, posted too soon 🤦🏻‍♀️

Where do people buy school tights which last? Bought DD's latest from George in about March, pack of 5 pairs & now down to the last two. They just keep getting holes in random places.

Can anyone recommend better quality ones please?

I've always liked M&S for work , not the cheapest multipacks, the higher denier ones

PittaMyBread · 14/11/2021 09:13

I am here for this thread! Also got George ones for my 4 year old but they’re awful! She needs ones that stay up at least 😂

How funny I'd opened this to post that George were great imo! But I won't now! I got a value pack of 10 and they're great though!

imasurvivor2 · 14/11/2021 09:29

John Lewis. I've tried so many other brands but they always last the longest so worth the cost

bizboz · 14/11/2021 09:30

M&S

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 14/11/2021 09:59

Sainsbury's. Sadly they stopped making them in DD's school colours. I was very impressed when DD came home with a very skinned knee and not a mark on the tights. Everything I tried since then has been disappointing.

Notthisnotthat · 14/11/2021 10:00

M&S have been great. Holding up well.

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 14/11/2021 10:05

We've gone for next this year and so far so good....

delilabell · 14/11/2021 10:12

We buy from next but in the next size up. Dd is in 5/6 clothes but buy 7/8 tights. George were too short in the leg so got holes in the gusset. Next are fab.

reluctantbrit · 14/11/2021 10:14

John Lewis. The only ones who didn't shrink in the wash or had strange sizing to start with.

Next isn't too bad either.

Stompythedinosaur · 14/11/2021 11:35

John Lewis here too - much the best school tights. They last well enough that I can pass them on from elder dd to younger dd.

foxgoosefinch · 14/11/2021 11:53

John Lewis all the way, they don’t shrink and they have proper “feet” so they aren’t uncomfortable round the toes. Have tried loads of other brands which always shrink and bobble really quickly, JL are the only ones I’ve found which don’t.

Moretodo · 14/11/2021 11:57

H&M are brilliant for socks, pants and tights.
I found them to be the best, though did not try John Lewis.

PennyWus · 14/11/2021 11:58

My DD is slim and tall with narrow feet. M&S tights never fit her as a young child, the waist was huge, the tube-shaped feet swamped her. Cheap tights were a disaster. I invested in 3 pairs of Country Kids tights and they were fantastic. Lasted two winters, with loads of wear. Really warm and don't go bobbly. DD outgrew them. Excellent value.
They do have shaped feet like a sock so if you actually prefer the tube-shaped feet this is not your best option.

ramblingmum · 14/11/2021 12:32

Dd is slim and hated tights with out shaped feet. I next good for her. They often survived to be handed down

Goodmum1234 · 14/11/2021 12:47

John Lewis- youngest now wearing them so over 5 years of wear

ChimChimeny · 14/11/2021 15:10

thanks everyone, sounds like I need to look at JL or Sainsburys.
