@NannyGythaOgg

Did anyone see their Twitter thread.

Following on from a certain food chain complaining that Aldi's caterpillar cake was a copy of their 'named' one. Aldi complained that other supermarkets were selling clones of 'Kevin' Grin

🤣🤣🤣

Has anyone seen the Christmas add where the caterpillar is carted off in the back ground by 2 sour lemon police officers?!

gigi556 · 13/11/2021 07:08

Peanut butter

MerryMarigold · 13/11/2021 07:13

I agree with skin on fries and would add the chilli burgers (frozen) to that.

Chicken chipolatas are great

The toilet roll!! Lidl is terrible quality in comparison.

Reed diffuser no. 1, and once they did it in a spray which was the best post poo spray ever but not seen it since.

Etherealhedgehog · 13/11/2021 07:19

I really don't like Moser Roth BUT they do another sharing size chocolate bar with mint fondant in the middle, which is basically a giant bar of After Eight. That is great.

EmergencyPoncho · 13/11/2021 07:21

@mogkat

We find all their cereals are good, I've stopped buying Kelloggs etc and get it all from there.

Washing powder, washing up liquid and loo roll all good.

Frozen chips are also better than McCain according to my son haha!

My DD prefers their cereal to Kellogg's.
AgnesWaterhouse1566 · 13/11/2021 07:28

All of the above plus their Italian sodas. Particularly the lemon and mint and the blood orange.

MerryMarigold · 13/11/2021 08:16

Actually cereal we are iffy on and kids prefer Lidl cereals/ moan if I go to Aldi but therev are some things Lidl just don't do!

Longdistance · 13/11/2021 08:19

They’re own brand Marmite is delicious.

SequinnedShawl · 13/11/2021 09:23

The twin pack of part cooked baguettes are tasty and a lot cheaper than Tesco/Asda ones.

Wine. Chocolate.

Cookerhood · 13/11/2021 09:24

Yes to pp, the toilet roll. No tissue crumbs!

@SequinnedShawl yes to the part baked baguettes. The ciabatta rolls are fabulous too.

KateK1974 · 14/11/2021 00:25

Like most things tbh, but faves are Hash Brown waffles, the takeaway pizzas and garlic bread, ham trimmings, Naan wraps, seasalt and lime tortilla chips & blast kitchen roll.

Appalonia · 14/11/2021 00:28

Love their red wine, burger buns and full fat yoghurt

SirenSays · 14/11/2021 00:41

I love the Sparkling water, Vegan yoghurts, hazelnut chocolate and the bakery jam doughnuts.

Blueuggboots · 14/11/2021 00:43

At Christmas time, their stollen bites and their cherry and marzipan in chocolate.

Skinnyankles · 14/11/2021 01:41

The vegan salted caramel ice cream is the nicest ice cream I've ever tasted
Pretzel chocolate
The lager copies of peroni etc
kalamati oives in a jar
All the cheese
Those long red peppers.

I did start by just nipping to Aldi for milk/bread, then it turned into basics with top ups in tesco. Now we do not shop anywhere else at all.

DorothyVallens · 14/11/2021 01:55

Red thai curry kit - 3 sachets with curry paste, coconut milk and dried herbs and chill. It makes a great fish curry. Deluxe steak and whole chicken. Almost all of the Deluxe range. Toners which are a dupe of Pixi. Part baked sourdough baguettes. Fruit and veg is a lot better than it used to be but can still be a bit hit and miss.

silentpool · 14/11/2021 02:40

I mainly buy less or non-processed stuff there as I find they use a lot of filler ingredients in their pre-made stuff. So I will buy health food stuff (like seeds, nuts, cacao etc), olive oil, apple cider vinegar, spreadable goats cheese, organic tomato paste etc. On the household front, I buy their washing powder and dishwasher tablets.

Whereismumhiding3 · 14/11/2021 06:57

I like their bakery section
Part baked 8 seaded rolls are yummy and cheap
Family size lasagne in fresh section is a bargain and favourite if my DCs
Their dried jar & tin section is a bargain especially - Mascarpone pasta sauce in a jar and the pasta bake sauces ; fajita kits; soy sauce; bramwell mayonnaise is a favourite

Cheeses , milkshakes & Sausage rolls are good
Frozen section must have - ready meals are bargain ; ice cream and cheesecakes
Good selection of aldi brand chocolate biscuits and chocolate for packed lunches

Toilet roll, Aldi brand dishwasher tablets and their moisturiser lacuna . Coffee and coffee sachets

I don't buy fresh fruit there if I can avoid as it tends to spoil quickly
Nor any of their crisps which have too weak a taste compared to the originals

Harlequin1088 · 14/11/2021 07:22

Oh man, where to start?? I love Aldi and don't think I've ever had anything from there that's not been good. Their cheeses are great, squash/juice selection, all their meats. You can't go wrong really.

Youvegotafriendinme · 14/11/2021 07:40

Everything we have bought from there is lovely, if not better in most cases than other supermarkets/brands. The only thing that ended up in the bin was their fabric softener. Smelt lovely in the bottle and like damp on the clothes.
