No starters, as we have hot sandwiches pancakes with maple syrup and bacon, or cheese and ham croissant for breakfast and eat chocolate all through morning.

Around 1:30/2 we have
Roast chicken (organic)
Bread and sausage stuffing
Roast potatoes
Parsnips
Carrots
Cabbage
Sprouts
Bread sauce (homemade)
Cranberry sauce (jar)

Desert is usually something like a pavlova about an hour after lunch.

Around 7/7:30 people help themselves to leftover meat etc, and the cheese, crackers and pickles come out.

Glassofshloer · 10/11/2021 19:56

Breakfast - scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, bagels, Buck’s Fizz

Lunch - Beef Wellington, home made roast potatoes, glazed parsnips, red onion, tenderstem broccoli, sprouts, pigs in blankets, Champagne

Breakfast is Buck’s Fizz and pain au chocolat

No starters because everyone’s nibbling all morning.
Lunch: stuffed turkey crown larded with bacon, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, glazed carrots, red cabbage, gravy, Yorkshire puddings, pigs in blankets, served with champagne for us and Schloer for the kids.
Pudding is usually the most ridiculously over the top thing we can find in the shops. This year we’ve got our eyes on Asda’s chocolate bauble.
Cheese, biscuits, mints, coffee. More wine.
Doze and chill till people start to feel peckish and pick over leftovers for tea.

MintJulia · 10/11/2021 22:50

Not sure yet. DS wants beef this year, but I've never cooked roast beef successfully. It always comes out tough. Sad

Hopefully he'll change his mind before the 25th.

OhGiveUp · 10/11/2021 23:54

Small cold salmon and salad starter.
Main meal is goose, roast potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower with hollandaise sauce.
No dessert.
He usually has beer, I have water for drinks with the meal.

MrsDrSpencerReid · 11/11/2021 00:38

Cold roast chicken
Cold roast pork
Cold ham off the bone
Coleslaw
Various Salads
Apple sauce
Potato bake
Steamed potatoes
Buttered bread stick
Plum pudding
Custard
Cream

All eaten by the pool because it’s stinking hot Grin

Usually have nibbles out before lunch like pretzels, crisps, mince pies and cherries and ice cold beer too

MrsDThomas · 11/11/2021 07:32

Carrots
Swede mash
Red cabbage
Cauliflower cheese
Sprouts
Gravy
Roasties of course

Pudding is a choice of Christmas pudding or something chocolatey yet to be decided

Tricked2003 · 11/11/2021 08:12

Roast turkey crown
Home made pork stuffing
Cranberry sauce
My special homemade gravy 😃
Roast parsnips
Roast potatoes
New potatoes
Carrots
Swede
Sprouts
Green beans or broccoli.

None of us like pigs in blankets so we don't have them!

Dessert will be a choice of my mums homemade pudding and whatever else we have made. Our christmas dinner isn't much different to a sunday roast but we are all happy with that!

This year I will be cooking pork with crackling instead of turkey.

kittenkipper · 11/11/2021 08:19

Breakfast - bacon sandwiches and chocolate (6-7am)

Starter- I'd like pate or fish but my family are fusspots so it'll be pea soup and red onion upside down tart (1-2pm)

Main- buttermilk brined turkey, sausage and sage stuffing spread under the skin and over the bosom

Plain carrots
Sprouts with pancetta and chestnuts
Roast potato
Roast parsnips
Cauli cheese
Pigs in blankets and out of blankets
Yorkshire's
Bread sauce
Cranberry sauce
Gravy
(3-4pm)

Dessert- Christmas pudding and chocolate pudding (5-6pm)

Cheeses and cold cuts for supper with shortbread and quality street alongside.
(9-10pm)

It's a very long day for us, where we are usually all up by 6 and still awake at midnight - so the constant grazing is welcome and adds to the feel of grand celebration without feeling slightly crass /unnecessary in the way of masses of presents. Food is the best part of the season in my opinion
