How old are they? What do they enjoy? How often are they in London? How long will they be there for?

Personally, I think Winter Wonderland is the inner circle of hell but I’m a grumpy old Londoner (except my kids hate it too).

BigSigh2021 · 09/11/2021 17:09

Back To The Future, the musical? Saw it recently and it was ace!

Like to suggest something that someone has experienced and raved about

Winter wonderland is expensive as hell... nice for a mooch around and perhaps a drink, but avoid the rides/ice sculpture exhibition etc.

What about The Crystal Maze experience? There's some good indoor crazy golf places but they double up as cocktail bars so I think age will be a problem.

Puffykins · 09/11/2021 17:18

Winter Wonderland is stupidly expensive and really not that fun. How about Christmas lights at Kew?

TractorAndHeadphones · 09/11/2021 17:20

What do yiu mean by fun - you mean interactive?

SortCode · 09/11/2021 17:20

How much are we talking for rides?

They would like the rocket boat on The Thames but thinking what else they could do

Has he thought about taking her up the OXO Tower?

londonmummy1966 · 09/11/2021 17:31

Skygarden before or after the rocket boat?

Lockdownmummy · 09/11/2021 17:38

Sky garden is good and free.

Electric Winter at the Southbank

One of the fun games bars? Flight Club (darts), Shuffle Club (Shuffle Board)

Camden Market is always good for a potter

There are some themes bus tours - definitely a ghost bus and I think there is an Xmas lights one

SortCode · 09/11/2021 17:38

they r too young to drink so dont think they will let then in sky garden - she looks very young

The London Eye? V and A museum?

RubyFakeLips · 09/11/2021 17:53

I read today that WW is going to be ticketed time slots, so you know they will be upping prices to cover reduced numbers. Also, if you've been to any sort of theme park the WW rides aren't very good...

Try:
Six Musical
Portobello or Spitalfields
Mooch round Chinatown, try some of the korean or bao restaurants
Walking tour - recently did great Halloween ones at night my teen enjoyed.

Winter wonderland is my idea of hell on earth. Just shuffling along looking at overpriced stall after overpriced stall. But I know some love it.

I second the Kew lights (if you can still get tickets) is wonderful. But not central london. It is very romantic.

I also second the Back to the future the musical it is brilliant.

London eye and a walk round south bank is nice.

Junk yard golf in shore ditch is good (check times for under 18’s though)

Cartoon museum used to do workshops

I’m missing something obvious I know. A lot of the independent quirky stuff seems to have gone over Covid. Hopefully they will reappear over Christmas.

EvilPea · 09/11/2021 18:06

School of wok do cooking classes. Might be quite fun.

Mosaic123 · 09/11/2021 18:22

Not Kew lights. My friend's daughter went a couple of years ago with friends, all aged 16 and 17. They were not allowed in as they didn't have an adult (aged 18) with them. As they had all travelled from East London they were very upset.

Tulipomania · 09/11/2021 18:29

Camden market.

Although personally I much prefer Portobello, for that age Camden is probably better.

Tulipomania · 09/11/2021 18:30

Also the Xmas lights on Oxford Street & Regent street, Piccadilly Circus.

Tulipomania · 09/11/2021 18:30

Is bubble tea still a thing?

SortCode · 09/11/2021 18:32

right will scrap WW

Itsnotdeep · 09/11/2021 18:33

my teens all want to see Hamilton (again). It's very expensive though.

Puffykins · 09/11/2021 18:35

Borough Market is fun (and delicious) then a walk along the embankment as far as Tate Modern where there's a really cool floating exhibition in the Turbine Hall, you can lie on the floor and watch it, and then over the bridge to St. Paul's, walk down the other side of the river to Somerset House, go ice skating (maybe) walk on to Westminster etc.

Puffykins · 09/11/2021 18:39

Depending on the day of the week, yes to Portobello (it's only Fridays and Saturdays) then walk on to Kensington Gardens, find Peter Pan, continue to the Science Museum/ Natural History Museum or to Alice in Wonderland exhibition at the V&A which is excellent.
