Tea..

I have just cleaned all my kitchen cupboards, and my tea selection consists of only Yorkshire Tea...which is the best in my opinion!

But I'm looking for some other types to have in, we like different flavours and I do enjoy fruit and herbal teas

What do you all enjoy? I'm intending to stock up and try many....especially as I now have cupboard space for lots of little boxes!

For me, tea should taste of tea. Not fruit.

And it has to be Yorkshire tea.

I drink loads of tea, supermarket teabag for first mug of the day but after that I drink from the following loose leaf selection;
Darjeeling (currently on a selection box of first flushes)
Assam
Genmaicha (a green tea with a toasted popcorn flavour)
Keemun needles from Postcard Teas (a favourite, smells like Turkish delight)
Tie guan yin (a very fragrant oolong)
Stone rolled black or green tea to make tea latte, also from postcard teas.
Thai tea in teabags, I think its vanilla assam basically.

Basically I love fragrant teas. With some of these teas I've experienced a very strange pleasant sensation where the incredible fragrance becomes an aftertaste that is stronger than the actual taste of the liquid. Hard to describe, but there it is!

There are so many teas out there to explore and you can find the same tea taste different from year to year with the different harvests, just like wine vintages.

I just came here to suggest Bird & Blend.

Their Earl Grey is amazing, and so many other lovely mixes. I have their loose leaf Earl grey for treat days.

I really like Clipper tea.

MrsBertBibby · 07/11/2021 08:01

Clipper Earl Grey bags for everyday, they are fair trade and plastic free so they go on the compost

sheerclear · 07/11/2021 08:03

Chai tea (I use two bags per cup though) and if I can be bothered, occasionally make it from scratch.

I enjoy Assam tea too.

Welcometothejingles · 07/11/2021 08:03

Not Twinnings Earl Grey anymore because they've switched to bergamot essence not oil. So the flavour isn't as strong as it used to be.

PlayItCool · 07/11/2021 08:10

Also like Pukka tea esp the mint, but they seem to put licorice in a lot of their teas which I really dislike.

I love Fortnum's tea for a treat. Royal Blend is the nicest "posh builders" tea with milk. I also love their rose scented black tea - but found something identical at this independent tea and coffee company based in Lancaster: thecoffeehopper.com/shop/#category-tea

Mmm... tea!

DukkaDukka · 07/11/2021 08:11

So pleased there are some people who are tea fussy too, like me. Grin

I’ve recently got into matcha tea and love the ritual of making it. I bought a kit from OMG tea with a whisk and spoon and it is the most delicious smooth tea.

I also drink a lot of earl grey and pukka teas, wild apple and cinnamon is great for this time of year.

NotAnotherPylon · 07/11/2021 09:27

I drink a lot of Teapigs tea. Their everyday brew is good. I also love their rhubarb and ginger.

Suki Earl Grey is good.

At the moment, though, I'm working my way through a very large bag of Tea Masters breakfast tea which I bought on Amazon. I haven't come across any teabags I like as much as loose leaf tea, but then my tea is a disturbing shade of bog oak and you could dance a jig on it!!

dementedma · 07/11/2021 09:39

Recommend The Wee Tea Company for amazing teas from an independent and ethical company.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 07/11/2021 09:43

Russian Caravan (I get mine loose-leaf from Whittard) is a lovely strong tasting afternoon tea

DukkaDukka · 07/11/2021 09:45

I’ve got F&M’s Wedding Breakfast tea, created for Kate and Williams wedding and it’s so disappointing. Bland and weak.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 07/11/2021 09:49

Clipper regular teabags because they actually biodegrade - no plastic in the bag weave.
As a PP said, I also get some peculiar teas from Atkinson's in Lancaster. You can ask them for recommendations.
One I particularly miss is Twinings Buttermint. They don't do it any more and it was a lovely bedtime drink.
Booths Builders Tea is very nice too - punchy and strong. Dash of milk.

DroopyClematis · 07/11/2021 13:50

The best ordinary cuppa was Tesco's own Scottish Blend which I could only get in Scotland.
Beautiful brew.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/11/2021 16:53

Lakeland tea is lovely. But the bags do tend to tare easily.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/11/2021 16:54

Lady grey is also lovely.
