Horrible pain with piles, maybe TMI

JellyTots2009 · 01/11/2021 06:12

Gonna add a TMI incase people are put off.

Gosh it's been relentless!

I only have to move position in bed and the pain takes off.

I've had a small pile ever since I had my DC 12 years ago. I wouldn't even know it was there until I looked.
So it's not bothered me at all.

I do remember a few years ago I had to use Anusol because it enlarged slightly and although it shrunk it was still a little bigger than when I first got it.

Anyway fast forward to now, a couple of days ago I noticed I was going to the toilet more and more. So much that toilet paper was hurting my backside I had wiped that much. I noticed when I sat down or stood up and muscles start clenching I was in terrible pain.

I had a feeling the pile was the culprit. Well yesterday I bought some Anusol for the pile. And when I looked at it, it's tripled in size since I last saw it and it's so so sore. I put the cream all around the area and have had no relief all night. Barely a few hours sleep.

Who know you clenched your arse that much in the night that the pain would wake you up? I also can't remember it being this painful last time but that may be due to the size of it.

Anyone who's used Anusol and remembers days and that, how long would you say it takes for it to start shrinking and you don't get pain constant throughout the day?
The worst part is the siting and standing. Once walking a round it isn't massively painful.

Are you using suppositories too? They’re could be an issue internally affecting the external pile. Mine only go away when using both suppositories and external cream.

FlorenceNightshade · 01/11/2021 06:23

If it’s not bleeding take ibuprofen if it is bleeding take paracetamol for the pain! You should feel the benefit of anusol in 24-48 hrs. Warm baths should help too. I had a patient once who swore that witch hazel was the only thing that helped hers and was quite disappointed that the hospital pharmacy didn’t stock it!

romdowa · 01/11/2021 06:28

I echo what others have said but also want to add that nappy rash cream and using flushable wet toilet paper will be your saviour.

I thought I had piles, it was fissures. Try to wash with the shower after taking care of business. See Dr if it doesn't stop.

shylatte · 01/11/2021 06:35

If its external applying ice somehow really helps. If you can crush some ice and put it in a plastic food bag and wedge it between your buttocks it should give you some relieve. The clenching is actually spasms and it is so painful, that gives me the impression there might be an internal one too. Sadly I'm quite the piles expert. The only thing that works for me is to cut a Clove of garlic into a slither (so that the inner bit is exposed) and dip it in olive oil and insert it like a suppository. It stings like mad for a few seconds but it is great relief and shrinks them too. I also get instillagel from the GP, it looks like a syringe of clear gel which is a local anaesthetic and is very good pain wise.

shylatte · 01/11/2021 06:39

Also if you have been going to the toilet more frequently then do see the GP.

Sweetpeasaremadeofcheese · 01/11/2021 06:42

I also recommend ice. Freezing some water in a condom is great I've found with both the tears and the piles after birth. Numbs the area wonderfully.

JellyTots2009 · 02/11/2021 05:22

Thanks for the replies.
I've carried on throughout yday with the cream, uses internally now as well as outside.
Been taking ibuprofen as there is no bleeding.

Only reason I'm awake this early is because I've been feeling a pain in the area for the past couple of hours rendering me unable to sleep. I've taken two nurofen just now as it is so painful.

Not sure why there's a set back when yday it wasn't this painful? I went to work with it too.

I've been usually the cream day and night since Sunday evening and no difference In size yet.

I think you need checking over by the Gp. They can prescribe stronger medication than you can buy over the counter and it might be worth checking it is a pile and not something else going on.

icedcoffees · 02/11/2021 06:57

If you're in pain and it's changed your toilet habits then you really should see a doctor rather than self-medicating.

Yusanaim · 02/11/2021 06:59

Can you push it back up. That would ease the pain for me, though would reappear when I walked about.

FaaarkinEll · 02/11/2021 07:02

You can buy instillagel from the pharmacy it was an absolute lifesaver when i had a haemorrhoidectomy - never had pain like that!

Bagelsandbrie · 02/11/2021 07:07

@Yusanaim

Can you push it back up. That would ease the pain for me, though would reappear when I walked about.
Yes this. If you can’t push them back up they may need surgical treatment.
RosieLemonade · 02/11/2021 07:51

Make sure you are insistent when calling the doctors. I had a receptionist tell me they wouldn't see me for it. I was in tears and in the end I lied to get to see a nurse practitioner. He was furious with the receptionist.

shylatte · 02/11/2021 08:11

I've been to A & E a few times because if the pain. If you are worried they won't take you seriously say they have been bleeding. I'd go through childbirth before having pile pain! Another thing OP, get some soluble cocodamol, dip a tablet in water then apply it to the pile and try to hold it in place until it dissolves. This should help the inflammation too.

megletthesecond · 02/11/2021 08:27

It might be a fissure. The pain is breathtaking.

JellyTots2009 · 02/11/2021 16:47

My partner is a nurse and he's completely sure it is an external pile.
If the pain or size hasn't gone down within a few more days I will see a doctor.
After being in pain this morning the painkiller helped, but has since wore off and I haven't felt the pain bad again. I'm starting to think it's mainly night pain I'm getting.

I actually managed to do some housework today although was slow with it. Managed though that.

Definitely call the dr and ask them to prescribe something stronger. I found anusol stopped working and I need the cream and suppositories from the gp. The stuff I was given was Proctosedyl ointment and suppositories. They were very effective. Don’t suffer. And using ice packs helps too. Xx

Babyroobs · 02/11/2021 18:19

It could be thrombosed, they are extremely painful. I found proctesdyl suppositories helpful ( on prescription ) from Gp. Hope things improve soon.

DontWiltMySpinachPlease · 02/11/2021 18:25

Currently sitting here with an ice-filled sock wedged up my arse for my thrombosed hemorrhoid. it's the spasms that are a killer, they've genuinely bought me to tears a few times and I'm definitely taking more painkiller than I should be, but damn, this is a killer.

I get them a lot though so am a pro at helping them heal. The first three days are horrible, the next three are uncomfortable but not agonizing, and then it starts to shrink after that. You have my full sympathies OP. it's awful.

I'm on suppositories, steroid cream and ice. Seems to be all that helps. Hope yours improve soon! X

RepentBirthingPersonFucker · 02/11/2021 18:44

Agree with pp use suppositories. I've had one for 23 years, I call it DCs evil twin
The GP gave me some cream that has a local anaesthetic in it which was heaven
My other recommendation is to stop wiping and buy a bidet bottle. It gets you beautifully clean, it's pain free and it saves paper

Duplobinlorry · 02/11/2021 18:52

Definitely see your gp. In the meantime, I find that germaloids suppositories are much better than anusol.
Good look op, they are agony!

Darklane · 02/11/2021 18:52

Are you using Anosol cream or the ointment? It’s the ointment you need, bit more expensive fir a smaller tube but much more effective & also contains a bit of anaesthetic which gives a lot of relief. Put a good dollop on & use a sanitary towel in your pants towards the back so it acts like a bandage, stops the ointment rubbing off on your clothes & also cushions a bit when you’re sitting. You could wear it in bed in a pair of knickers too, might help cushion the pile.

AnnaMagnani · 02/11/2021 18:59

Laxatives! Anusol on the pile at every opportunity but you also need to completely take the pressure off your anus so you are not squeezing and making the pile big again.

So enough Laxido that you can poo effortlessly.

Also moist toilet tissue. No paper. Paper is evil.

JellyTots2009 · 02/11/2021 19:50

Tbh going to the toilet has been fine. I don't need to push and it doesn't affect the haemorrhoid when doing it, so thank god for that part.
It's painful to wipe so I have to get a mirror and carefully so it , I also apply more cream after because it says after bowel movements too.

A lot have mentioned suppositories so I think I will get them.

To the PP who calls it DC's evil twin , that made me laugh and I might call to that also Grin

Thank you for all your help
