Aaaaarghhhh - Ds is writing history on Monday morning and art in the afternoon. Now! he tells me he has run out of medication and there is no chance of getting a prescription in time. Apparently it is too much to ask to let me know when he takes the last one out of the box.

Lemonsandlemonade · 05/11/2021 20:35

Had a lovely time at fireworks DS enjoyed it. I had a moment watching his face seeing the lights he was so happy.

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 06/11/2021 00:16

Lovely fireworks tonight. Oldie dog was not phased and kitten actually snored on through them. :-).

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/11/2021 08:55

Good morning, I hope those who celebrated had a lovely time and those who are unwell are feeling better today.

I spent hours reading up on DS's medication and now I know how to substitute retarded with unretarded meds, so he can write history.
All grades from year 11 and 12 count towards the final Abitur grade and those who want to study medicine or law (so not DS!) have to show them all when applying to uni.

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 06/11/2021 09:14

We had a lovely bonfire and baked potatoes cooked in the embers (diet? What diet Grin ) No fireworks of our own but we saw plenty around and about, and thankfully it managed not to rain.

MissConductUS · 06/11/2021 12:05

Happy Caturday, lovely people of the thread!

No bonfires or fireworks here last night. I guess James I doesn't have many fans.

It's cold but clear here, so I had a nice run as the sun came up. I'm looking forward to setting the clocks back tonight. Now I'm trying to get out to the warehouse club before it gets crowded.

Good job getting the medication issue sorted, Prok. I generally have at least a few months' supply of our prescription meds on hand, just in case of supply chain issues.

You sensibly have yours on 4 July when it's nice and warm!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/11/2021 12:21

miss DS's meds are regulated so he cannot stock them.
But I - wrongly - assumed that he would notice when he was running low or even when he took the last pill out of the bottle. Apparently it is my fault.

We have similar issues with ADHD meds. You can't ask for a refill until you're within a couple of days of running out, and you have to actually get the doctor to approve the refill, then request it from the pharmacy, who seem to run out periodically.

For someone with ADHD it's a challenge...!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/11/2021 13:26

zz Yes, it is, that is why I am doing it - but he has to let me know. I will set a reminder in my calendar.
I have sent a mail to the doctor, I will get the prescription during my break from work, hand it in at the pharmacy, who will need to order it as it is fairly new.

On a nicer note: I will bake cookies / biscuits / Kekse / Plätzchen when we've eaten.

Silkieschickens · 06/11/2021 15:27

Sorry about the meds problem Prok Here we have out of hours doctors and they can electronically send prescriptions to chemists, I am not sure if it works for regular things or just new ones but if you have something like that might be worth trying them. Our gp sends all things to the chemist nowadays unless you prefer it at gps or go in.

Glad people had nice fireworks. None here and can't do them in garden with a thatched cottage!

DD has gone out for the day with friends. DH is napping, he was being told off a lot for this by Silkiecat. I said to take Silkiecat the teddy bear fleece pillowcase and since all has been quiet.

DH will go out later to get my mended laptop back, pick up something from Toolstation and pick up DD.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/11/2021 16:22

@Silkieschickens - Not for meds that fall under controlled substance regulations. Everything else I could get,

The cookie dough is resting in the fridge for the next 6 hours.

HelenaJustina · 06/11/2021 17:28

Freedom day! I’ve got so much accomplished and it’s only 5.30pm…

Silkieschickens · 06/11/2021 18:00

Thats a shame Prok We can get prescription meds out of hours here if you can get an out of hours doctor to write a prescription and they send it electronically now since pandemic to chemist, the only issue might be they cant access your records but I have got antibiotics off them.

DD has just arrived back and wants a Thai so she is calling dh with her order.

Thats good you are out of isolation and hope the house was not too bad when you emerged.

Lemonsandlemonade · 06/11/2021 18:01

Agh just made mash potatoes for tea and the lid came off the salt. Have had to remake it.

Pretty much sums up my day. 🙈

MissConductUS · 06/11/2021 18:47

Lemons, hopefully, you weren't making my Holiday Mashed Potatoes. Grin

The landscapers were here this morning to blow away the leaves. The cats did not appreciate the noise. It will be worse when they come back at the end of the month and get on the roof to blow out the gutters as well.

Lots of fireworks in gardens going off around us. In bed under the fleece duvet and can see some whilst being warm. Silkiecat and rabbit appears unfazed, think Silkiecat must be asleep as she has not noticed dh has gone to get my mended laptop and a Thai meal. I am having sweet and sour prawn and sticky rice, ds is having red curry and sticky rice, dd is having veg spring rolls and veg pad thai, dh will share with me.

Nydj · 06/11/2021 19:15

Congratulations on your freedom, @HelenaJustina and I really hope that you get the lump checked soon and can come and tell us all that it was nothing @Silkieschickens.
I have had a busy day today and have achieved nothing of note. Perfect for this thread, I think.

Lemonsandlemonade · 06/11/2021 19:25

@MissConductUS ha ha no it’s on my list for next week. 😀 was mash to go with sausage casserole.

HelenaJustina · 06/11/2021 19:32

It’s so windy that we can’t hear any fireworks even though there have been 3 big displays in villages/towns around us. DDog unphased. DH and 3DC went to one of these displays and had a fab time. DC1 filmed most of it for DC2 who isn’t allowed out until midnight tomorrow.

mathanxiety · 07/11/2021 01:06

No fireworks here of course. We had a glorious and unseasonably warm Autumn day. The trees are magnificent. Tomorrow will be even warmer.

I've received Christmas lists from three of the DCs and shared them. We do a gift exchange on Christmas Eve and I do Santa Claus so there's a little element of surprise. I need the lists early so we can all co-ordinate and get shopping. I used to love last minute shopping but I'm now in the get it done by the end of November camp.

Last year I had to cancel a big Amazon order and go with Bed Bath and Beyond instead with two weeks to go before the big day purely because Amazon kept on changing the delivery day, getting closer and closer to Christmas each time, and then the last straw, 3rd January.

Silkieschickens · 07/11/2021 07:57

Been awake an hour or so but seem to be only one awake.

Last night DH came back with a Thai takeaway which was amazing. He said as he walked in he heard a loud purring chair and looked down to see Silkiecat was on a dining room chair with the teddy bear fleece pillowcase on it and she was curled up, very happy and snuggly. I previously bought her a catbed of exactly the same material but being a cat she won't go near a catbed. Confused

Thanks Nydj Hopefully will get appointment letter / call / text through this week. I asked on here how long they are taking and in most areas it seems to be 2 weeks and then the NHS often does everything the same day including biopsy. I may call on Monday to check though, but not sure if anyone will answer as they are very busy.

Had some more work come in which will keep me distracted.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/11/2021 10:45

silkie If you want the cat to use her bed - start using it yourself!

I keep my fingers crossed (halte die Daumen) for a speedy appointment.

Grey and more or less dry here and morose pidgeon was here drinking.

Silkieschickens · 07/11/2021 11:01

Thanks Prok The cat bed I mean is this one, the cat has 3 beds, but this one is made for cats and only about 40cms x 40cms x 40cms and I am a bit larger than that Grin

But I fit very nicely inside the duvet cover of the same material.

DH is having a shower. We have things for a roast dinner and will be having our roast Sunday lunch in a few hours. Silkiecat and I are very happy about this though Silkiecat is happiest at Christmas when we have a big turkey and she sits by the oven.
