Clocks going back tonight - which of your clocks is most difficult to change?

Suspect this is one of those boring threads that no one will reply to but I'll give it a whirl Halloween Grin.

I've got a vintage pendulum clock where I'll have to stop the pendulum for an hour (or else go through the total PITA that is re-synching its chimes).

It'll take me the customary five minutes of fiddling round to remember how to change the one on the oven.

The one in the car is about to enter its usual 5 months of being an hour fast because we have no idea how to change it.

I recently acquired a radio controlled clock (analogue) and I really want to see what it does when the clocks change but not sure I want to stay up till 2am BST.

Anyone else want to share their clock changing quirks?

Kids body clocks. Takes over a week to change them.

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 30/10/2021 18:33

Oh yay the clocks change! That means my car clock will be right for 6m

SiliconHeaven · 30/10/2021 18:35

Every six months the other half of my clocks are right 👍

My oven - it's heading into its 6 month period of being an hour wrong

The dog’s!

InTheLabyrinth · 30/10/2021 18:38

Oven!
FWIW, the clocks dont change every 6 months.
We get nearly 7 months on BST, and only 5 on GMT.

AgnesWaterhouse1566 · 30/10/2021 18:39

My car is a Japanese import and there is no way to change the clock. This means from tomorrow I have to add three hours on to the time displayed rather than four. (Or the other way around. 🙄)

AgentProvocateur · 30/10/2021 18:40

I don’t change any clocks - just accept that the oven and car will be wrong for several months.

ArchwizardTVampirebat · 30/10/2021 18:41

I'm glad we're not the only ones who leave at least one clock unchanged!

This one. It's a bigger to even get off the wall. And then you have to do something with the date and stuff. It's DHs job because I can never figure it out!

The dining room clock is the trickiest for me. Not because it's old or awkward, I just can't reach it!

JuneOsborne · 30/10/2021 18:42

#bugger

JuneOsborne · 30/10/2021 18:42

Ah, shit. I posted the uncropped one by mistake.

The dog’s!
Ha ha, yes. My cats will be demanding their food and daily Dreamies an hour early.

You're admirably Hallowe'en ready!

I love that style of clock.

Car one.

FourTeaFallOut · 30/10/2021 18:44

My car clock. I just disregard it until dh gets the hump with it and changes if for me.

Afolnerd · 30/10/2021 18:44

I have I radio controlled clock that is meant to change itself. In reality I will spend at least 20mins pressing it’s reset button over and over and swearing at it and eventually it will think about changing itself to the right time. One day it’s going out the window like a frisbee!

PurpleFadesToGreen · 30/10/2021 18:45

I've just had a similar conversation with DH.

And realised the only clocks that change themselves are the central heating and our mobiles.
So bedroom clock, dining room, oven, land line phone and car will need to be changed manually. Halloween Confused

OldTinHat · 30/10/2021 18:47

The one in my car. Oh! But my car was written off yesterday. Ah well, sunshine on a rainy day and all of that...

Grin It's a drastic but effective workaround.

Oven 6m of the year it's 1hr15 out the other 6m it's 2hr15 out. Never use it for actual time telling just for guidance when a recipe says "whisk for 3 mins" etc

Champagneforeveryone · 30/10/2021 18:54

We don't normally do the car immediately, deeming it too complicated initially. A couple months down the line we will crack and dig out the manual and all will be well for a few blissful weeks.

The cooker has never showed the right time since the first power cut. That necessitated a degree of skill so devious that we nearly divorced over it. A second power cut followed quickly and we resolved never to look at the cooker clock again. It currently says it's 11.48 Hmm

Now that's what I call positive thinking!

Oh God, the car clock is a nightmare. I have to gently tweak a little lever and if you miss the right time it’ll make you go all the way round the clock and do it again. The swearing.Sad
