What to do with a ten month old in the relentless rain … ?

I’m thinking maybe soft play for a couple of hours, but other than this, not sure … any suggestions? Smile

All those suggesting taking a 10 month old for a fun buggy walk in the rain are insane.

There is nothing fun about that.

Op I get what you are saying. I had two under 3 in the second lockdown last year and staying in the house so much drove me potty. Funnily enough I didn't always want to get them both out , one in a pram and another on full wet suits and wellies just to get caked in mud and the pram covered in mud, I just didn't.

You asked a perfectly reasonable question.

@Magicalwoodlands

Perhaps what you intend to be nice, and what others take to be nice (concern for mental health - seriously?) isn’t?

And that isn’t intended rudely. It really isn’t. I’m just not really seeing having my mental health called into question (even ‘nicely’) on a thread about babies and the rain, as particularly ‘nice’.

Shall we move on and get the puddle suits on? Halloween Smile

Absolutely fair enough, OP, and apologies if it caused offence. I only posted yesterday because you started talking about being a “shit parent” and a “terrible mum”, neither of which anyone else accused you of being, but seemed to come from you, so I honestly just wanted to make sure you were ok. I didn’t mean anything by it but just checking because often these things get overlooked, and I don’t think statements like that should be ignored. I promise I was only trying to be nice, but I can appreciate your perspective.

For what it’s worth, I don’t like walking in the rain either!! Grin

Let’s all have a mass burning of the puddle suits Smile

Thanks (very much!) to those who do get it. We had a nice day with a pub lunch and soft play.

I’m in!!! Smile

And very glad you went for the pub option…. after a slightly iffy start, you and me might actually get on! WineWineWine

Just the sight of rain brings back hideous memories of lockdown with a baby and a 2 year old and too many people telling me how much fun it is to go out and get covered in mud.

There is definitely an air of moral superiority about going out in the rain and enjoying it. I've still never found that "right clothing" that makes it into a pleasant experience.

Chocolatetrifle · 31/10/2021 12:34

Yes lockdown in winter with two young children and bad weather is a terrible combination.

Anyone suggesting you go out in the rain every single day with mud covered pram wheels, wellies etc is probably sitting at home in the dry with a hot chocolate watching a film...

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 31/10/2021 12:36

I drove to the gym earlier past 2 playgrounds in the pouring rain… where are you all and your kids jumping in these puddles and out with your prams?

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 31/10/2021 12:38

Jesus, stay at home! He's only 10 months, a day at home won't kill him or you - and you've got at least another 10 years of trying to think of stuff to do to keep him entertained.

If you want to go out, do something you want to do, and baby can tag along. At that age they're usually just happy to be with you.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 31/10/2021 12:41

Posted without RTFT and now worried I'm going to get virtually shouted at by the OP. Confused

trifleandbaileys · 31/10/2021 12:55

You could just wrap up warm and go out with the raincover on the pram? Halo

DrCoconut · 31/10/2021 13:29

Are there any local indoor events on? Maybe advertised on social media. We're going to a little party later at a church hall. I know what you mean about rain. Some people just won't accept that it's cold and miserable if you get wet.

CottonSock · 31/10/2021 13:31

Glad you had a nice day. I do remember a lot of pub lunches thinking back. Preferably with the baby asleep in pram :)

MoreAloneTime · 01/11/2021 08:23

I used to eat out quite a bit with my baby once they were on solids as it took a while for the novelty of the high chair to wear off. They'd just nibble and stare at everything.
