What to do with a ten month old in the relentless rain … ?

I’m thinking maybe soft play for a couple of hours, but other than this, not sure … any suggestions? Smile

I bet that would be nice, probably a little young now but definitely in a few months. Thank you.

Ah @NigelSlatersXmasTaters the antithesis of the MN parents who go out in all weather regardless … the parent who does nothing because it is only a baby and can live with all four walls until his third birthday at least.

Not for me thanks.

OP get over yourself and just do whatever you want

Most things are open despite the rain

Magicalwoodlands · 30/10/2021 11:00

Yeah I know that thanks Hmm I asked for suggestions. Some people gave them. You made a snarky comment. Don’t worry.

All our local soft plays are fully booked this weekend as they are doing Halloween events! However, lots of garden centres have play areas (some outside but also some inside or at least covered so can be used in the rain). Sounds bizarre but both our dc absolutely loved going to arcades as babies- looking at the lights, smashing down buttons on spare machines, dancing to the songs playing....and the great thing is they don't understand about playing games so you can just wander around for free! We whiled away many a rainy afternoon in our local arcade when they were babies. Also check out your local area's Facebook page - plenty of free or cheap activities this weekend like pumpkin carving or Halloween crafts being held in church/Town halls. Of course you may need to have booked already but worth checking out. Or could you arrange some visits to friends / family? I know it's still in a house but is a bit of a change of scene.

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 30/10/2021 11:09

Yes you have many suggestions so just pick one that you like and stop arguing with the ones you don't agree with. It's already nearly lunchtime.

I am taking my 4 month old to a Halloween fair which is a 5 min walk (in the rain) away.

No one is saying you have to go out in the rain. They are just suggestions!

Magicalwoodlands · 30/10/2021 11:12

I think telling me to stop arguing when you came on my thread to argue is a bit rich Grin

Thanks @RavenclawsRoar

Run a bath put some toys in and let them play. It easily consumes and hour.

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 30/10/2021 11:16

Yes but I'm only arguing with you and am currently trapped under a feeding baby so have nothing better to do Grin

And I'm not actually annoyed as this is not about me but you seem to be getting upset. Relax! I hope you enjoy your day with your baby OP.

10m is hard especially at the moment where everywhere will be rammed with older kids at half term. Trampoline park would be dangerous at that age (was hideous enough for my 5yo). Have you got a garden centre near by? I lived in them when mine were toddlers. Some have got the Christmas decorations up so the lights are especially good for that age.

sohypnotic · 30/10/2021 11:17

Big garden centre - look at the plants and pets if they have them. Most will also have their Christmas displays up - round here they have lovely big Christmas installations including everything from unicorns to life sized trains.

TurnUpTurnip · 30/10/2021 11:17

I get it op, it seems to be a MN thing where people insist you just go and walk around in the rain 😂 the times I’ve taken my kids out in the rain and we have gone to the park we are literally the only ones in there, or if we are in the park and it starts to rain everyone leaves! I wouldn’t choose to go and walk around in the rain as a fun activity 🤦🏻

FlounderingSeagull · 30/10/2021 11:20

Turn up unannounced at a friend or family members! Halloween Grin

Magicalwoodlands · 30/10/2021 11:20

I’m not getting upset @Bunnycat101 but I am defending the accusations of shit parenting from people.

And actually I’m not massively appreciating your input.

I am appreciating the suggestions, we’ve got a plan for the day but many will be handy for the future.

@TurnUpTurnip it is definitely a MN thing Wink

Magicalwoodlands Hoping you tagged me by mistake because that was pretty rude given all I did was suggest a garden centre!

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 30/10/2021 11:23

Just ignore me then OP Grin

I really do hope you have a nice day.

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 30/10/2021 11:24

I think she meant me @Bunnycat101

Garden centre is a good idea

We like baby cinema but showings seem to be few and far between

Maybe you have a friend with a baby who also wants to get out for a coffee / walk round the garden centre

Magicalwoodlands · 30/10/2021 11:25

Of course it was a mistake Bunnycat. Apologies.

OP posts:
FlounderingSeagull · 30/10/2021 11:27

Do it for the sole purpose of the AIBU.... that's your evening planned aswell then to Halloween Wink😂

FlounderingSeagull · 30/10/2021 11:28

"just thought we'd say hi...." "ooooh it's a bit wet out here, pop the kettle on..." Halloween Grin

BrilliantBetty · 30/10/2021 11:29

Garden centre! Some of the bigger ones are great, cafe, things to look at, covered outdoor bit. Christmas decorations in so should be quite sensory for a little one.

Weedsorwishes · 30/10/2021 11:30

Are you looking for ideas for today or just in general?

Magicalwoodlands · 30/10/2021 11:33

It was for today but we’re sorted now thanks Smile

AutumnFrolicks · 30/10/2021 11:35

Feed the ducks
Splash in puddles (if walking yet)
A walk around a country park/ local park

I took mine out in all weathers. Still do. I honestly think it's good for you and them as long as you're wrapped up

AutumnFrolicks · 30/10/2021 11:39

Nvm I didn't rtft
