We've just completed our 3rd night (of the 200 night trial) on our new Emma premium (the firmer) mattress.
My partner and I have very different needs. Our former mattress was originally of very good quality (memory foam top over miracoil springs) but some of the springs gave way recently.
I'm a Which subscriber and use their research a lot before making large purchases. We decided to try the Emma premium because of the 200 night trial and their website had 45% off (plus an extra 5% for signing up to the newsletter).
There was a slight odour (a bit like silicone sealant) for about 6 hours. We left the mattress on the floor in our spare room for 24 hours - by the time we put it on our bed frame, I couldn't detect the odour any longer.
I am menopausal (bastard night sweats), plus I've had major surgery on my spine involving a large number of metal rods, nuts and bolts. I've also got a scoliosis at the top of my spine.
My OH has problems with his hips and knees; the pain would often wake him up on our old mattress. He's also snores heavily.
Both of us would prefer to sleep on a concrete floor rather than a soft mattress.
So far, we're both extremely happy. I've had no night sweats at all since I've been sleeping on the Emma, which is a huge relief. I find the mattress to be very firm, but not hard if that makes sense! You don't sink into it, nor do you leave an impression on the surface when you move. OH's snoring has drastically reduced, and he's been able to sleep through without being woken by his hip and knee pain. Both of us are able to move/turn without disturbing each other. Also very comfortable for non-sleeping activities
I fully intend to make the most of the trial and won't hesitate to send it back if it stops working for us, but so far we're very impressed.
