Does anyone have the Emma original mattress? Do you recommend it?

Does it smell when new? Does anyone have any money off vouchers? And has anyone returned one if they didn't like it? How easy is it to return and did you get your refund?

Dd has one and it's very comfy, I'd definitely recommend it, we've got a Simba and I prefer the Emma.

I can't say I noticed any smell when it was new.

amusedbush · 27/10/2021 23:26

DH and I got one in January 2020 and loved it immediately. We bought it through Amazon with a hefty discount applied - check there often as the discount changes day to day. It didn't smell of anything that I noticed.

Then in January of this year we finally agreed to separate bedroom due to my absolutely awful sleep. Initially I had a Silentnight mattress in my bedroom but it was useless so I sent it back and I ordered another Emma mattress through Amazon with 45% off. It arrived the next day with Prime delivery and the difference is amazing.

100% recommend.

That's very useful, thanks. They have money off on the Emma website, but looks like Amazon is cheaper.

I've read a lot of reviews saying they develop a lump in the middle after a while if two people are sleeping in the bed. Also that they are very hot.

My daughters hasn't developed a lump but it's a single, our super king Simba has a lump down the middle where it rests on the bed frame.
I find the lump the most comfortable part as it's firmer, I wish we'd bought a bed with a solid divan base but dh wanted a frame bed that we could lift and store stuff under

bumpertobumper · 28/10/2021 21:25

My son has original Emma, is is very comfortable, and soft.
Recently bought Emma deluxe for ourselves, is is MUCH firmer and getting sent back, haven't actually done the return yet but looks straight forward... will update in a few days if any trouble

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 29/10/2021 11:44

Yes it seems the problem is just with two people sleeping on the mattress.

DShas Emma and loves it . I do think it is hot but it doesn't bother him.

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 30/10/2021 17:34

Looking on Amazon, it's more expensive to buy there than on the Emma website at the moment.

Love ours! Had it for about 2.5 years now and no issues.

MissCreeAnt · 30/10/2021 17:47

I slept on the sofa for nearly 3 weeks after ours arrived, despite having followed the advice on leaving it outside etc. However I am very prone to smell-induced migraines.

I do find it comfortable but we have dips where we sleep, which make the "high" bits uncomfortable to sleep on. We do use the free mattress topper as we found the mattress too hard initially.

Dogatetheleftovers · 30/10/2021 18:02

We bought an Eve hybrid mattress and it’s amazing, so comfortable. My dc has an Emma mattress and it’s gone really soft and lumpy.

RepentBirthingPersonFucker · 30/10/2021 18:10

I tried an Emma, an Otty and a simba
I sent the Emma back. It was thinner and not as comfortable. The other 2 I love and have had them a few years now

longwayoff · 30/10/2021 18:29

I've got one, an Emma, I hate it. It's soft and it's bloody heavy when you need to turn it. By the time it was unpacked and adjusted to mattress size, the thought of returning it defeated me. I will never buy another.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 30/10/2021 18:48

I returned an Emma mattress. I liked it but DH didn’t get along with it. Their returns process was very easy and the customer services people could not have been more helpful and pleasant.

FaaarkinEll · 30/10/2021 19:06

I had one and its far too soft - I couldn't work out why I had a sore back until we went mattress shopping and tried a firmer one and the salesman said it's a common problem thinking a mattress is too hard when actually it's too soft. We have a relyon one now which is amazing. It was OK returning the Emma one but the whole process is a pain in the arse really you'd be better off seeing if you can try mattresses in person

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 31/10/2021 15:45

Well, I've ordered one, because I'm desperate and have back and neck pain. I can't easily get to a store to try one due to my location and circumstances and also believe ten mins lying on one in store doesn't tell you what it's like to sleep on. I'm keeping my old mattress in case I have to return it Blush

I hated it.
Too thin and just felt wrong.
Returning was very easy process though.

Daisychainsandglitter · 31/10/2021 21:17

I found the smell quite difficult to handle for the first few weeks.
Although comfortable, I suffer with piriformis syndrome in my lower back/buttocks which the mattress exacerbates.
I told my physio this and he agreed that it's not a great mattress if you have muscular skeletal problems.
Have only had it 18 months but will be switching to a much firmer mattress soon.

Daisychainsandglitter · 31/10/2021 21:18

Agree with PP, too soft which is contributing to my pain!

NorthumberlandVera · 31/10/2021 22:48

We have had an emma mattress for over 3 years now and I love it. I so enjoy getting home from holidays to sleep in our own comfy bed. I’m always too hot in bed but it doesn’t make it worse. And there are some slightly dipped areas now but that is to be expected after 3 years. Can’t remember any smell at all…

babydungarees · 31/10/2021 22:55

We have one, it’s fine but you need to turn it very frequently to prevent dips from forming and it’s quite big & heavy. Will be trying something different when our new guest bed arrives next week, but haven’t decided what yet!

Allsorts1 · 31/10/2021 22:57

I detest foam mattresses - so unbelievably hot in the summer and no bounce for sex, you just sink further and further in and can’t get a rhythm going Grin

theDudesmummy · 31/10/2021 22:58

I have am Emma and like it. It is too hot though (menopausal) so have got an Eve cover on it which has helped.

Allsorts1 · 31/10/2021 22:59

And they also aren’t great for your back either, I find my butt sinks down and it makes my lower back worse - if I sleep without a pillow it helps though. Traditional quality spring mattresses all the way!
