Could you give me an example of your weekly meal plans?

I’m looking for inspiration. I want to start being more organised with the food shop and start making a weekly meal plan. Teen DDs are getting bored of our usual dishes and younger DSs hate change so it’s a bit difficult to please everyone! Just wondering what other people’s weekly dinners look like! Thanks 😊

This week we’re having:

Sun - roast pork and apple crumble for pud
Mon - pork stroganoff with tagliatelle (leftover from roast)
Tues - bolognese pasta bake and salad
Weds - fish and chips
Thurs - homemade pizzas and coleslaw/salad
Fri - noodle stir fry
Sat - homemade cheese and onion pasties for lunch, Thai veg green curry for dinner.

Itsnotdeep · 24/10/2021 17:18

We have got

Macaroni cheese with bacon and kale from the Roasting Tin
Prawn linguine (it's a Jamie recipe)
Beef casserole (One of the Nom cookbooks)
Chicken fajitas
Something with mince - chilli, space bol or cottage pie
bosh bowls (vegan day). (from the Bosh cookbook)

Kids at their dads today so I'm eating cereal.

Mon: Caribbean style cous cous and chicken/veggie chicken substitute marinaded in a lemon and herb sauce. With peas and tender-stream broccoli
Tues: Homemade leek and potato soup with bread/crackers. Will probably throw some raw veg on the side
Wed: (Veggie) sausage and bean casserole with mashed swede. Will add some chorizo for meat eaters.
Thur: Pasta in a creamy garlic and herb sauce (essentially melted Boursin and creme fraiche) with peas, broccoli and tomato's.
Fri: Mezze night so stuff like falafel, tzatiki, hummus, olives, feta, some form of meat for those that eat it and pitta/flatbreads to build wraps/pittas. Might add some potatoes of some variation.
Sat: Were at a Halloween party so whatever they're serving.
Sun: Roast dinner.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 24/10/2021 17:52

I usually do something mince based which lasts for 2 nights. Next week it's going to be home made burgers, served with salad and sweet potato wedges. Wednesday will be fish pie. Thursday chicken curry. Friday is either takeaway or fast food or restaurant, DS wants KFC. Hmm Saturday will be grilled salmon and vegetables. On Sundays I've started cooking dishes from other countries to try and get DS to stop being so bloody picky, not sure what yet next week but I might do ramen.

Crepuscularshadows · 24/10/2021 20:09

The first rule of meal planning is that you don't mention the fuckups.

My supermarket order came with really mangey sweet potatoes that weren't going to make it until the end of the week, so sausages got brought forward. Kale chorizo able puy lentil moved back.

The trick is to be flexible (ish).

FindingMeno · 24/10/2021 20:13

A typical week of meals for us would be:

Chicken curry/ chicken salad
Pizza

Roast dinner

I bread things down into categories for each day. Then I just choose a meal for each category which I find easier. I actually have a list of meals under each category which I ŵrote in a notebook. We are vegan so my categories are often split into types of carbs etc. I like to experiment with different recipes too so one night a week is a free choice of whatever category I feel like/ using up leftovers etc
Mon: free choice
Tues: husband cooks
Weds: pasta bake/ one pot mesl, as I am out late this night so I prep in advance and DH just throws in oven when he gets home from work
Thurs: potatoes
Fri: salad/ mezzo platter. Followed by dessert
Sat: fakeaway eg homemade pizza/ burgers
Sun: have traditional cooked lunch, followed by toast/ sandwiches in evening

MooseBreath · 24/10/2021 23:15

Just to let anyone on this thread know who signed up to Lollipop via my referral link on Page 2, I've won a prize. Basically I've been allowed to pick a recipe from the Lollipop website and try it for free (a Sainsbury's voucher worth the total of the ingredients) I've gone for a duck with grapefruit dish which costs £15. This also means that if any of you want to place an order, you will get £10 off plus also get to try a recipe for free. You will all be emailed with this info from Lollipop. It's honestly worth a try, even if you just order once.

LucentBlade · 03/11/2021 12:26

Rump steak, homemade wedges, home grown tomatoes and basil with mozzarella, peas, carrots, sweetcorn.

Roast chicken and potatoes, stuffing, carrots, broccoli, peas, onions.

Pan fried salmon, asparagus, jacket potato, peas, carrots, small side salad.

Char siu pork, rice, mixed stir fried veg.

Left over char siu pork with noodles in a soup base with green beans and sweetcorn, topped fresh spring onions and celery.

Gammon, red lentil and mixed veg stew with jacket potatoes. Will whizz up left overs to make a thick soup and have with crusty bread and cheese.

These are dinners over last few days, it's the gammon today. We spend quite a lot on food, we do grow some veg and have a pear tree.

Monday: Vege Fajitas

Tuesday: was going to be chicken casserole with the above mentioned veges, but DD got a glowing report, and an excellent test result so I was 'persuaded' we could celebrate with takeout, lol.

Tonight is spaghetti and meatballs, with spinach added to the mix.

Tomorrow is Venison Bulgogi, with rice and steamed asian greens.

Friday is takeout night, with robust negotiations as to who gets to choose, and what is to be had.

Saturday, we're having home made curry night.

This week:
Traybake chicken pieces with roast spuds and salad
Seafood chowder and crusty bread
Beef and root veg stew, broccoli and baked potatoes
Halloumi super salad (Mob Veggie recipe)
Veggie Nasi Goreng(Mob Veggie again) rice, grated carrots & cabbage and spices, topped with fried egg - much nicer than it sounds
`Laksa ( Mob Veggie again) - carrots, courgettes, sugarsnap peas, noodles, coconut milk and spices
Something mince-based - probably spag bol
At the weekend I often do Shakshuka (sp?)for brunch or supper.

Each week we have one mince based meal, one or 2 chicken-based, one fish ( eg salmon and spinach pasta) some sort of soup and some veggie meals. Most weeks we'll have a curry of some sort ( usually chicken or chickpea).

We are 4 adults, one of whom is still a fairly fussy eater but he is now trying new food regularly. I try to have a salad accompanying most meals if they are not already veggie, and as a family we are trying to up the percentage of veg to carbs.
If we have a new cookbook, I make everyone go through it and put a post-it on 2 meals that they would like to try.
I keep a running list in a journal of meals everyone will eat as well as recipe books and a Pinterest folder.
