Recommend me an amazing sandwich - ideally vegetarian

Feel in the mood for a sandwich but what filling? That's the burning question

Don't like beetroot, prefer vegetarian. No to any blue cheeses or ketchup

What would you have?

If you are near one, I suggest the pret cheese and chutney baguette. It’s the most superior sandwich of them all

I think I'm going for ...

Granary bread
Full fat cream cheese
Drizzle of honey
Walnuts

One of my DH's faves is basil marinated tofu (in vacuum packs from some supermarkets) sliced with sweet chilli mayo, lettuce, raw onion and sliced tomato. Bit like a veg club sandwich.

Also love wraps with tahini, sliced dates and honey. (Could be done with peanut butter I think instead of tahini but we have allergies here).

My ultimate favourite is fresh sliced radish mixed with a little bit of cream cheese and dill and salt.

Quorn sausages, hash brown and brown sauce on a white roll.

Not vegetarian but my favourite sandwich was salami with mozzarella and sundried tomato in olive oil on thick white bloomer. It was from an Italian deli that did freshly-made sandwiches from the things they sold and also pizza, lasagne and simple pasta with pesto or bolognaise. It closed six years ago and I miss it so much.

I have been eating a lot of wraps filled with the Strong Roots spinach nuggets, mayo, salad and a good squeeze of chili sauce. It's a bit like the Spicy Veggie Wrap from MacD's but a million times nicer.

Tesco used to do this red cabbage slaw that was basically shredded cabbage, onion and carrot in a vinaigrette dressing which was totally amazing in a wholemeal bread sandwich with houmous. Unfortunately they've stopped making it and I can't find anything similar

Marmite with loads of rocket on granary preferably. The peppery taste really complements the marmite.

Roast peppers and aubergine. Serve in a pitta with hummus, crunchy lettuce and sriracha sauce. (My quick take on a sabich!) Delicious

Egg mayonnaise but with salad cream is My favourite.

Or cheese and red onion toasted. Add some mushrooms and that’s even better. With mayonnaise. Yum yum.

I had a macaroni cheese toastie in m&s the other day. It was so goood! It was like macaroni with garlic bread but the opposite ratio of pasta to bread and it worked!

Usually I'd have hummus and tomato or vegan sausage and brown sauce.

Pesto, mozzarella, beef tomato drizzled with balsamic vinegar.

I love manchego. emmental or gruyere with honey and walnuts or almonds and figs in season. Not in a sandwich but I can see how it would work. I'm going to buy that tomorrow.

Sorry, mine has blue cheese - but, blue cheese, spinach, walnut and chutney.

Mine too - stilton, thinly sliced apple and mango chutney.

Used to order from a great local sandwich shop years (decades!) ago that did good bread with grated mature cheddar and tinned pineapple. Bit nice, but it was great. Might re-visit that one day, see if it's better just remembered.

Can't go wrong with good old grated cheddar, sliced tomato and Branston either.

Halloumi, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, hummous, fresh mint.

I love a good strong cheddar with honey.

Also love feta cheese, tzatziki, roasted peppers and raw red onion.

Brie and redcurrent jelly.

Not rtft but cheese, mayo and pineapple, toasted. Mmmmmmmm.

Soft cheese, date and walnut on a seeded bread.
