What are you still using that you got a long time ago thinking it will do for now?

I've just put the veg on to steam and realised that I bought the steamer pan I'm using for a fiver in 1999. It was from an end of line / bargain type shop and I remember thinking it would be useful until I got something better.

I didn't think I'd still be using it several times a week in 2021!

I have a tea towel that my mum left behind after visiting us nearly thirty years ago. She brought it with her to mop up any puddles that her little dog might have made on their journey to visit us.
I hadn't seen it for a long time but it looks to be late 60s/early 70s.
It's so fine now but I cannot part with it. I use it to cover my potatoes in their basket in the garage.
Maybe one of you lovely people could date it for me?

Recently gave an old metal saucepan to my sister (only due to new induction hob!). Exact age unknown but my grandmother's mother had it going spare and gave it to her when she got married in 1949 as a temporary measure until she could afford some new ones. It's seen loads of much newer ones off and nobody in living memory has ever had to screw the handle back on. I almost regret the induction hob!

A slow cooker I bought when I was pregnant with ds, who is now 19.

It was a cheap one from argos, bought when I had sever morning sickness and the only thing I could eat for 8 months was veg stew.

Still going strong all these years later and has been used at least 3 times a week every autumn/winter.

A bright blue plastic afro comb I borrowed off my stepdad in 1985! I didn't have afro hair unlike him, but it was brilliant for backcombing Grin

It is now the most hideous thing ever, all the plastic has peeled off and it looks rotten, but I am completely attached to it and will never replace it. I don't even dare take it away with me in case I lose it! 36 years and counting...

My Zanussi chest freezer, from a second hand shop. I estimated it was about 8 or 9 years old when I bought it. That was 34 years ago and it is still working fine.
A set of cheap stainless steel saucepans also 34 years old that still get used most days.
