What the heck is on my child’s face ?!

My 11 year old has a sore red patch on her face for about a week at first i assumed ir was some sort of injury she is autistic and doesn’t always mention when she hurts herself . But its not healed at all even with various creams.

If anyone has any idea what it could be that would be useful - going to a doctor or pharmacy is really a last resort for her last doctors appointment she his under his chair growling like a bear im not keen to repeat that for a really minor thing!

What the heck is on my child’s face ?!

Could it be impetigo?

BingoandBluey · 16/10/2021 20:14

Could it be Impetigo?

Groovee · 16/10/2021 20:14

Looks like impetigo. I got cream from the chemist when I caught it at work.

Agreed, impetigo was my first thought!

Oldtiredfedup · 16/10/2021 20:14

Or peri oral dermatitis?

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 16/10/2021 20:14

Impetigo?

Justwingingit2005 · 16/10/2021 20:15

Have u tried anti fungal?
My son had some like that. Pharmacist said ring worm. Used daktarin twice a day for 4 weeks. Didn't start clearing up til 10 days in.

Makinganewthinghappen · 16/10/2021 20:17

ApocalypseNowt · 16/10/2021 20:17

Pretty sure it's impetigo

Bopahula · 16/10/2021 20:18

Impetigo.

Do you have a walk in drs nearby that you can get to in the morning. It needs antibiotics for treatment and is massively contagious. Don't share towels etc.

ThePlantsitter · 16/10/2021 20:19

Yep impetigo. Antibiotic cream should sort it- can you send a pic to the GP?

fiorentina · 16/10/2021 20:19

I’d agree with impetigo, it’s very contagious I believe, so definitely try and get some cream from the dr.

Angel2702 · 16/10/2021 20:19

Yes definitely looks like impetigo. Needs cream from GP. They can probably do a phone appointment or send photos as it’s a minor ailment but very contagious.

immersivereader · 16/10/2021 20:21

Impetigo. REALLY contagious, tell her not to touch it.

CaptainMorgansMistress · 16/10/2021 20:21

Our DD has just had impetigo - oral antibiotics prescribed by GP, pharmacist took 1 look and wouldn’t give anything as said it needed GP.
Be aware they have to stay off school until 48hours after first antibiotic dose as it’s so contagious

immersivereader · 16/10/2021 20:22

You need fucidin

TheLastLonelyBakedBeanInTheTin · 16/10/2021 20:22

Looks like impetigo. I had similar placement before near my lip not on my lip. GP said if was probably a cold sore on telephone appointment (I've never had a cold sore and it's in the wrong place anyway) but when I went to buy cold sore cream the pharmacist asked me if it was for the rash, which by then had a second bit starting to develop as well. She suggested I speak to the GP again, who prescribed an anti fungal. Still never saw the rash and that was Years before covid, but the pharmacist was shit hot. I would get your DC seen by a pharmacist, they are always my go to for anything skin related now.

Makinganewthinghappen · 16/10/2021 20:24

She touches everyone constantly thats her thing (screaming internally here) i have 5 other children - who are all sick with a cough at the moment and they all had covid 5 weeks ago. Then my eldest got pneumonia!

I feel like my doctor must dread my name coming up on his list Sad

I will message the doctor on e consult i googled impetigo it could be that.

It was antibiotic cream sorry not anti fungal. Fucidin cream. It's prescription only.

PumpkinsandTea · 16/10/2021 20:31

That looks like a form of Ringworm to me

ThePoisonousMushroom · 16/10/2021 20:32

Impetigo and needs antibiotic cream.

purplebatbear · 16/10/2021 20:38

Looks like impetigo

Wbeezer · 16/10/2021 20:42

In Scotland the pharmacist would be able to prescribe Fucidin for that directly under the minor assumed scheme but i dont know if you have that elsewhere?

Elderflower14 · 16/10/2021 20:45

As a mother who's child had impetigo umpteen times i would bet my bottom dollar that'd what it is...

tootiredtospeak · 16/10/2021 20:49

My autistic DS gets impetigo around his lip area at least one a year we have a repeat of fucidin on his records. He is meticulous regarding hygiene but got it once and now it flares up when he is really stressed and anxious which is coupled with copious amounts of lip chewing.
