What the heck is on my child’s face ?!

My 11 year old has a sore red patch on her face for about a week at first i assumed ir was some sort of injury she is autistic and doesn’t always mention when she hurts herself . But its not healed at all even with various creams.

If anyone has any idea what it could be that would be useful - going to a doctor or pharmacy is really a last resort for her last doctors appointment she his under his chair growling like a bear im not keen to repeat that for a really minor thing!

Impetigo

SophiesMummySaid · 16/10/2021 20:54

Could be impetigo, but could also be a cold sore

Kummerspeck · 16/10/2021 20:55

Impetigo usually has a yellow-ish crust and I can't see that on your pic so not sure if it is that

My eldest got impetigo when he was 5. The doctor said nothing about keeping him off school so I took him in. The next I knew was a phone call from the head, "Don't you know it's an excludable condition?" He had been writing his news......' I have been to the doctor. I have got....' " Please miss , how do you spell impetigo?"

Have you got a good supply of flannels? Make sure each time DD washes her face, she dries it with a new, clean flannel. Never use the same one twice unless washed. Of course, towels are just as good but I'm just thinking of your laundry basket!

honeygriff · 16/10/2021 21:22

Boil wash pillowcases & towels in case it is impetigo.

Blobgummy · 16/10/2021 21:35

Is DD saying it feels wet? Like most others, I would be leaning towards it being impetigo and if it is will need some fusidic acid cream prescribed by GP. Hope whatever it turns out to be gets sorted soon x

My first thought on seeing the photo was impetigo.
