If you inherited £450k, what would you do with it?

Let's assume you don't have any kids to pass it on to, so we don't have a whole thread about putting it by for the kids, what would you do with an inherited £450k?

I'd buy a house around the £250k mark (currently renting), budget £20-30k for doing it up if required... and then I'm not actually sure what I'd do with the rest!

Scrap that. I've just looked at my local property for sale and it's hideous. I'll stay where I am and possibly extend.

I’d put the money towards my mortgage or a bigger house.

Buy my stbxh a nice flat with about £200k so he can finally fuck off.

House with 200k plus our current equity. Pension of 200k to retire early. 50k set aside for emergencies/to help future kids.

Then I'd just do whatever jobs I fancied without caring about what I earned. If your pension and your home are taken care of, bills are very little really.

We live in a 2 bed flat - albeit a lovely one in a fab area - so I would buy a house. Maybe not in this area though as the 3 bed hour next door to us is going for £550,000 ShockShockShock

Pay off my mortgage and extend my house.

Return to uni full time and do a degree in something useful but predominantly fun.

Invest the rest for retirement/travelling.

Ltb! (But he's not an awful B so I'd let him date me occasionally).

Buy a house

IncyWincyGrownUp · 17/10/2021 10:49

I’d buy a five bed house, use £50k to make sure it was decorated and furnished, and I’d put the £200k left into a pension.
