Didriksons worth it?

Following on from another thread I've fallen in love with the didriksons Erica parka and just wanted opinions on whether it's worth the £250+ price tag?

I bought a dridriksons parka about 8 years ago and it is amazing, so warm. I have worn it in Sweden and Iceland and have always been warm and dry. I bring it out every winter and the worst weather dog walks are bearable with my coat!

GCAcademic · 05/10/2021 11:42

How often will you use it? If you’re out walking a dog every day in all weathers, then it’s worth every penny.

The only thing I’d say is that it can be too warm at certain times in autumn and spring. I had to buy another, thinner, waterproof for this time of year.

haggisaggis · 05/10/2021 11:43

I have a Didriksons parka - may actually be the Erica as it looks the same, not sure as dh bought me it a good few years ago. Waterproof and warm so yes I think it's worth it.

I've had a Didrikson coat (on the recommendation of MN) for 10 years. I'm gutted that the zip has broken. It's been on dog walks and miserable school runs and has never let me down (until now!)

SoupDragon · 05/10/2021 11:47

And miserable rugby matches.

spiderlight · 05/10/2021 11:57

What are their sizings like?

SoupDragon · 05/10/2021 11:59

You can probably get it cheaper than £250 though.

True to size for me.

I absolutely love my Didriksons coat.

Thymeout · 05/10/2021 12:22

As Soupdragon said, just googled. Lots of reductions - 40 - 50% off.
Btw, dry-cleaners near me often advertise zip-repairs/replacements.

These people will repair it - they do a really good job.

I have had mine since 2021, it's still going strong and super warm and dry.

Peggytheredhen · 05/10/2021 12:33

2012 I mean Grin

SoupDragon · 05/10/2021 12:35

Ordinarily I would try to repair it but it's had 10 years hard use now. I've replaced the pocket linings myself :)

SoupDragon · 05/10/2021 12:35

Also, I may have just accidentally ordered an Erika...

😂

nowtygaffer · 05/10/2021 12:51

Go outdoors have them reduced

Cloudbaser · 05/10/2021 12:52

Yes but I think you could get a deal.

Leibham · 05/10/2021 12:53

Yes it’s worth it

Neolara · 05/10/2021 12:56

I've just replaced my much loved 10 year old didrickson parka with a didrickson Erika. The old coat was tatty but still warm and waterproof

ZubinB · 05/10/2021 13:03

I bought one off ebay a few years back. It's kept me so warm and dry in all manner of weathers. If you can afford it full price, go for it, but might be worth looking secondhand if not. I absolutely love mine.

LabiaMinoraPissusFlapus · 05/10/2021 13:08

They are excellent but can be bought in the sale I have found.

xmash · 05/10/2021 13:08

Yes very very warm and waterproof.

BarbaraofSeville · 05/10/2021 13:12

Didriksons are definitely worth it, but I'd possibly reconsider getting a very thick winter one as it might just be too warm most of the time.

You can get waterproof ones that don't have much thermal lining that are still quite warm but you can wear a jumper, fleece or light down jacket underneath when it's properly cold. So more flexible, and also cheaper. I think mine is called ilia and was £130, reduced from £180 at Cotswold Outdoor, probably in the spring this year.

Courgetteflorette · 05/10/2021 13:13

Definitely worth it! I bought a Didriksons coat for standing on the rugby pitch sidelines watching my children play in pouring rain. It was a total game changer. It’s one of the few things I’m always recommending to people, you will not regret it (but you will find them cheaper if you shop around and use discount codes!).

XingMing · 05/10/2021 15:39

I have winter and summer weights and they are fully waterproof as well as good for pockets. But I got mine virtually half price in an upmarket farm store in Cornwall so yes, there are bargains out there.

BarbaraofSeville · 05/10/2021 15:52

Didriksons is a Swedish brand and I suppose it helps to remember that Sweden is quite a rainy country, but many Swedes are still quite outdoorsy, so it makes sense that they have decent outdoor clothing.
