Is the Harry Potter studio tour worth the £? If not, what is?

My DD's birthday is coming up (11) and she's HP obsessed. Just interested if anyone has been and to get opinions please?

It’s great but be prepared for how expensive the gift shop is!

And butter beer stuff doesn’t taste how I wanted it to lol. It kinda just tasted like cream soda, where I’d always imagined it to be like Werthers Originals. Very petty gripe, but still.

megletthesecond · 28/09/2021 15:48

Another yes.
Funnily enough mine were so overwhelmed with the gift shop they only spent a couple of quid.
We had a 9:30 slot entry which got us to the backlot cafe for an early lunch.

RumblyMumbly · 28/09/2021 15:48

Yes! It's fascinating (even for non- HP fans)

& butter beer is weird and sweet

FrankReynolds · 28/09/2021 15:54

100% worth it!! I love been twice, most recently a few weeks ago and Gringotts has really enhanced the whole experience. I would recommend hanging back at the start and just taking your time, soaking it all in. Loads of people rush round it but I don't get why.

Have an amazing time!

Sp1ke3 · 28/09/2021 15:58

I’ve been with my daughter twice. We loved it both time but the extra Forbidden Forest and Aragog bit was definitely worth the second trip. We both hated the butter beer. I think you can take a picnic/flask.

Plexie · 28/09/2021 15:58

Hasn't it drastically increased in price in the last few years? I remember looking at tickets about 3 years ago when they were £20-something. Now they're £47!

Are people's replies based on paying the old price or the new price?

megletthesecond · 28/09/2021 16:01

New price. We went in Nov 2019.

SanFranBear · 28/09/2021 16:02

It's amazing and if she loves HP, you CANNOT go wrong. We went with a friend who hadn't read the books or seen the movies (his DW was the fan)... he binged like a demon afterwards!!

Coffeeonmytoffee · 28/09/2021 16:03

It's brilliant. Well worth the money and you're DD is the perfect age.

RNBrie · 28/09/2021 16:04

We went and we all loved it. Be prepared for the extra costs which you'll get pestered to buy (photos/videos on broomsticks, butterbeer tasting, the gift shop that takes 10 mins to walk through and the chocolate frog cafe thing at the end)

But I'd still go back. Take a picnic so you don't need to buy food then you might feel a bit better about the cost!

LlamaofDrama · 28/09/2021 16:07

Expensive and absolutely worth it for a treat!

TeenMinusTests · 28/09/2021 16:07

1 butter beer for the whole party, not one each.

Many kids/adults dress up / wear themed clothing so that's fine.
Gift shop pricey.

Looking forward to going back when DD is up to it.

Sunshine1235 · 28/09/2021 16:10

If she’s an HP fan then yes yes yes! I’d make sure she saves her birthday money for the gift shop though as it’s pricey

Puffinhead · 28/09/2021 16:14

Loved it, well worth a visit. The gift shop is immense.

Keladrythesaviour · 28/09/2021 16:15

Absolutely. I'm about to go for at least the 4th time (and I'm in my 30s...)

Rockbird · 28/09/2021 16:19

Taking DD1 (13) at Christmas for the 3rd time. It's absolutely 100% worth the cost.

Underbox · 28/09/2021 16:20

Absolutely worth it! Take your time and go round slowly and set expectations before you go with regard to the gift shop!

Stumpedasatree · 28/09/2021 16:21

Thanks all!! So expensive - why can't they do deals?!

BreasticlesNotTesticles · 28/09/2021 16:26

Eat before hand, share a butterbear and wands are about £30 - but it's a great day.

Was basing on old price but it's still worth it at increased price

You must have gone longer ago than 3 years ? We took DS when he was about 9 (now 13) and it was over £100 then for 3 of us

Totally worth every penny OP and myself & DH weren't HP fans - we went early Jan on an inset day (tickets were Xmas gift) - I think we had a 10:30 entry - we left around 4:30/5 - bought drinks there but took snacks (had a hearty breakfast on way).

Would totally go again

DIKateFleming · 28/09/2021 16:50

It’s amazing, took DH who’s not a big HP fan, but he loved it too, especially the more technical bits

CanICelebrate · 28/09/2021 16:53

I have been 4 times (twice with my dc, once with a friend and once with 90 children on a school trip) and I love it!

It’s a lot more money but Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the theatre is AMAZING.
I reckon you have to be a big fan to justify the cost though!!!

Literally no need for them to do offsre/discounts/deals

It's usually booked up months and months in advance. Millions and millions of global fans will visit the lace for years and years to come!
