This is an odd one.

Adding thread in the hope that someone might know her

What's the Web address for the ethnicity estimate?

This is the one I found - not sure if everyone else is using the same one?

However, I’m not convinced it’s accurate

I do think that ethnicity site is a joke... rather interesting results there!

This reminds me of the Benjamin Kyle case. Poor woman.

OrangeJuiceAndNoodles · 19/09/2021 23:04

I think she looks Slavic.

I hope her family see the story and that she gets the help she needs.

I know this is totally beside the point, but why is she described as having 'shoulder-length hair'? Is that not her in the photos? Shoulder-length is sort of a long bob, at the very least, to me!

I wondered that too. She's also described as emaciated in several articles I read. It made me question if the photos were actually her too but why would they use someone else's photo?

Perhaps just an opinion/translation issue?

ShinyThingsDistractMe · 20/09/2021 00:07

How peculiar!

You would hope someone is missing her somewhere?!

How sad if not though 🥺

aurynne · 20/09/2021 00:20

"She speaks perfect English" - In that case we know for sure that she's not British, Australian, New Zealander, North American or South African

Tooembarrassingtomention · 20/09/2021 00:38

A friend of mine had a stroke and woke up speaking another language. It was a language they didn’t know and they were very good apparently. They had worked abroad and lived with native speakers of this language but everyone swore they didn’t ever speak it.

DumplingsAndStew · 20/09/2021 00:47

A few comments on that article suggest her accent is South African. No idea where that has come from though.

Its very strange. I hope its nothing sinister.

TonyThreePies · 20/09/2021 00:51

The poor woman has obviously been through a very distressing experience and I hope the authorities get to the bottom of it soon.

DominicRaabsTravelAgent · 20/09/2021 07:18

Grin at @SevenOldLadies

Choux · 20/09/2021 22:24

I'm cynical. I think she has got mixed up in something - drugs smuggling maybe - and now wants out. She needs police protection so is faking amnesia just like the missing canoeist did a few years ago.

Most people from a loving family would have been identified by now which makes me think that people are deliberately not coming forward as they don’t want her identified.
SwedishEdith · 20/09/2021 22:47

Well, the Piano Man - mentioned at the end of this article - www.theguardian.com/world/2021/sep/20/croatian-police-seek-to-identify-mystery-woman-found-on-perilous-rock - wasn't identified by his parents for ages as they just didn't see the news story. I can't believe that was that long ago.

gogohm · 20/09/2021 22:55

@SevenOldLadies

I just tried that ethnicity calculator and it was completely wrong because I know my family tree for many generations (and it's very boring, all south Londoners), it said I was 80% American???

rocklamp · 20/09/2021 23:01

Perhaps she's a Russian spy.

It’s a joke. Not to be taken seriously.

mnahmnah · 20/09/2021 23:03

That ethnicity checker is hilarious. I’m pale, freckly and blonde. People always think I’m scandi or Dutch. But these are my results Grin

I got 25% 'European'. Vague enough? Grin

User45829057 · 20/09/2021 23:12

I would say she's early 60s, and Eastern European.

That article states she has shoulder length brown hair. So whyever are they showing a picture of a lady with short blonde hair? Who says journalism is going to the dogs??

I'm a bit baffled by that as well.

Re the clothes, there’s an entire chain of shops in Croatia that sells virtually nothing but blue and white stripey stuff. There are at least two branches in every tourist town. You have to work quite hard to wear something else.
