So, I do have a phone consultation tomorrow but unable to get a face to face initially.
I have what I think is a cyst, and probably an infected one.... over the course of a week / two weeks it has got so much worse... the size isnt my issue it's the pain... can anyone offer advice on how to ease this or just general advice, the skin peeling is new.

Never fear there is still hope for something gross to happen! It's only been 24 ish hours but no change whatsoever at the moment, it's just a bit more peely.

Is it sore? I think you'll need it drained tbh

cultkid · 16/09/2021 19:32

Have you had Covid vaccines on that side?

Picture please when it pops. 😆

Hope the antibiotics kick in soon.

I wonder how many doctors and nurses are just sporners living their absolute best life.

Burnamer · 16/09/2021 19:46

@cultkid

Which cult are you in? Is it one that doesn’t believe in science?
JesusInTheCabbageVan · 16/09/2021 19:52

@Burnamer clearly OP is 'shedding' a virus. It's mutated again so at least now we can see them coming and duck. Grin

TinaYouFatLard · 16/09/2021 19:56

As a Sporner Corner regular I recommend a hot bath.

skodadoda · 16/09/2021 20:07

@20viona

That's a sebaceous cyst and needs lancing.
Not necessarily. I had one, asked pharmacist for advice, (they will see you in person). She sold me magnesium sulphate paste to treat it.

But I’m not living my best life. I want to pop stuff. 😞
Thunderboxskin · 16/09/2021 20:35

Yes still the same pain level no change there either. I will call the surgery back on monday if there's no change. I'm hoping the antibiotics kick in before and it clears up but time will tell.

Cyclingforcake · 16/09/2021 21:02

Sorry I think that needs a surgeon. If it’s not getting better after 24-48 hours antibiotics go back to your GP.

Burnamer · 17/09/2021 00:08

Porridgealert · 17/09/2021 03:22

@JesusInTheCabbageVan. If I'd known spornering existed when I was at school, I'd have made some completely different career choices. Useless, blinking career adviser. ☹

Me. Love a good infected boil or cyst. I've had a few peri-anals pop on me but the best one was a really deep access on a foot that popped during a dressing change. It just kept coming and coming and coming.
Unfortunately I've moved onto a non-sporner ward but still do the odd extra on sporn-central.

me4real · 17/09/2021 03:41

A friend of mine had one of those, but I don't think it was infected or painful. They eventually removed it though. Feel better soon. Xxx

Thunderboxskin · 17/09/2021 06:58

This could be considered good news or bad news depending on how you were looking at my predicament Haha, but it burst this morning!
I was brushing my teeth and smelt something a bit funky, initially I admit I thought it was the drain. Turned around and in the mirror saw a massive patch of brownish liquid on my tshirt. I kid you not I barely touched that beast and a jet of puss shot out my shoulder at maximum speed. My body has never produced such an enormous quantity of anything before nevermind that gross, I'm strangely impressed with myself.
Does anyone know if I should cover the launch pad area with a plaster or not?

God that sounds amazing! Has it left a hole?

Northernsoullover · 17/09/2021 07:14

What a glorious update. I hope the pain has subsided.

Ohhhthepain · 17/09/2021 07:24

I would cover it or it will leak through your clothes, my son had one on his back and it did the same.

picklemewalnuts · 17/09/2021 07:25

All That prep, OP, and you didn't Film it!

I'd ring the surgery and say you need them to clean and dress it for you. Point out it's on your back and you can't see how it's doing at all.

Droite · 17/09/2021 07:32

I'd come and tell my story on the Sporner Corner board but I'm not willing to be responsible for the mass orgasms of so many married and partnered women. It'd probably cause an earthqucake, if I do say so myself!

@DoncasterHombre, how dare you tease like that? Over to SC this instant!

MrsClatterbuck · 17/09/2021 07:50

I have had similar on my shoulder 3 times. The 3rd time as well as antibiotics and having it lanced by the doctor I had to attend the clinic to have it dressed by the practice nurse. The doctor also said to stop this recurring she referred me to a surgeon who cut out whatever it was under the bump which was left each time. No more problems since.

Mumdiva99 · 17/09/2021 08:55

@thunderboxskin no idea what you should do. I would give myself a pain in the neck and shoulders trying to reach around to squeeze as much crop out as I could. Then come back an hour later and do it again....and again....and again.....

But then I am a sporner....

TinaYouFatLard · 17/09/2021 12:51

Oooooh Yum!
