So, I do have a phone consultation tomorrow but unable to get a face to face initially.
I have what I think is a cyst, and probably an infected one.... over the course of a week / two weeks it has got so much worse... the size isnt my issue it's the pain... can anyone offer advice on how to ease this or just general advice, the skin peeling is new.

@20viona

That's a sebaceous cyst and needs lancing.
...with a camera pointed and running. 😉

Spooner corner is a section of mums net where people swap things like spot picking videos (think Dr pimple popper)....if you get an actual photo of something gross on you popping or oozing then that is fantastic. 🤣 It's all lighthearted (and sometimes gross). I think it's in the section 'in the club' or somewhere similar.

Sporner not Spooner....

I had one of those at the beginning of last year. It was fine for ages then started feeling like it wanted to pop out of the skin, it then went red and painful like yours. I went to A&E one evening when the pain became too much, and they said I had to have antibiotics straight away. They talked about admitting me so that they could give me intravenous antibiotics, but thankfully decided that they would try me at home first, as soon as the infection cleared up they operated it. Their main concern had been that it would turn into Sepsis (blood poisoning), so please don't delay OP, if you can't get an emergency GP appointment, go straight to A&E. Good luck 💐

FeatheredHope · 15/09/2021 12:54

How did the GP call go, OP?

MistySkiesAfterRain · 15/09/2021 13:00

These threads are hilarious, people always fall over themselves for a picture, while the Op is in probable considerable pain Grin.

cultkid · 15/09/2021 13:08

I think that might need draining at hospital

Bless you

Go to a&e

HurryUpAndWait23 · 15/09/2021 14:52

Ouchie!

Hope they sorted you out OP.

Thunderboxskin · 15/09/2021 18:32

Hi everyone, thanks for the replies!

Had the telephone consultation, the Dr tried to do a virtual appointment so she could see my back. It wouldnt work thanks to the wonders of technology so I had to email off some pictures. I obviously had pictures however the Dr wanted a size reference so I had to ask a colleague to take the picture while I held a ruler against it (luckily she isnt squeamish but talk about getting to know people haha).
The Dr called me back and opened with "that's certainly a cracker isn't it!" Which I feel was a good sum up.
The outcome was she thought it was a sebaceous cyst that has become infected and I have a course of antibiotics, hurrah!

Porridgealert · 15/09/2021 19:07

Hurrah! 🥳 (But a bit 😪 that there's no film for sporners corner.)

Mumdiva99 · 15/09/2021 19:32

Glad you have antibiotics.

@Porridgealert don't lose hope just yet....

BlackeyedSusan · 15/09/2021 21:16

Hope they sort it out.

Porridgealert · 15/09/2021 21:26

Obviously my hope is that sporners corner isn't needed for the op but @Mumdiva99.... 🤞 😉

Lolalovesmarmite · 15/09/2021 21:33

Don’t hesitate to go back to the doctor if it doesn’t improve. From unfortunate experience I know that they can be difficult to treat with antibiotics because they are sort of contained within a ball. I had one that looked very similar, had to have it drained and incised because antibiotics didn’t work and then spent 3 months having the large open wound in my side packed and dressed several times a week as it wouldn’t heal. It then flared up every couple of months needing repeated courses of antibiotics until they surgically removed the whole thing.

Hopefully the antibiotics will work for you, but if they don’t or if it flares up again get straight onto your GP. I really wish I’d made more of a fuss earlier, I’d rather go through labour again than have an infected open wound packed.

DoncasterHombre · 15/09/2021 22:16

You're a sporner corner dream. You post pictures without having to be asked ( or, more likely, told to/demanded). They would worship you like a Queen . . . but don't be fooled by them; they'd just as quickly pin you down, poke you, squeeze you and drain you until you were a panting, gasping, sweaty mess after they had had their way with you. Mind how you go and I hope you get that sorted soon. It looks very painful.

Porridgealert · 15/09/2021 22:29

@DoncasterHombre. 😂😂😂😂

We're edging her over there, she just doesn't realise it yet. 🕸

Mumdiva99 · 15/09/2021 22:35

I have the pimple popper zit squeezing kit all ready.....except I think I need to find a scalpel.....would a Stanley knife do? I can pack with old muslins which I will sterilise in the microwave. (That was nearly a big autocorrect fail. 🤣). And we all know how important it is to get the sack out....
@porridgealert will you inject the local anesthetic?

DoncasterHombre · 15/09/2021 22:44

@Porridgealert

Oh, I see what you're doing! It's a form of grooming and very, very wrong! @FeatheredHope with her "How did the GP call go, OP" is an absolute disgrace. She isn't interested in the OP's welfare . . . . just how big or close to bursting her painful new "friend" is!

You're no more than a bunch a thigh rubbing, voyeuristic, body (erupting) worshiping deviants! Poor OP is like an innocent lamb to the slaughter and you lot with your MS (mint sauce/Magnezium Sulphate) are only too ready pounce and feast like gluttons!

Porridgealert · 15/09/2021 22:49

@Mumdiva99.

Yes, please. Ready. 😷 So happy.

Porridgealert · 15/09/2021 22:52

Sorry, @DoncasterHombre, you're right. We're shameful. 😔 I'll see you on the Corner later. 😉

Heartsinflowers · 15/09/2021 22:53

I would sterilize a needle and pop it… probably the wrong advice though

Porridgealert · 15/09/2021 22:55

And film it. 😉 🙂

I wouldn't pop it. Oh, it breaks my heart to say that. 😢

xprincessxjanetx · 15/09/2021 22:57

Glad you've got antibiotics, hope it clears up soon as it does look very painful!

DoncasterHombre · 15/09/2021 23:10

@Porridgealert - aye, probably Blush - but I'm only there for research purposes!

As somebody who once had a pilondial abcess that made me feel like my bum crack was sealing up from the top down that had to be lanced at hospital - only for it to burst before that happened - and then packed and bandaged by a distirct nurse on a daily basis for about 4 weeks, I have some some sympathy for the Op! (OP, as painful as yours looks, I doubt it'll be that bad so please don't panic. I did think it was near your bum given your original post pic though! Stange how an armpit crease can look like a bum!)

I'd come and tell my story on the Sporner Corner board but I'm not willing to be responsible for the mass orgasms of so many married and partnered women. It'd probably cause an earthqucake, if I do say so myself!

DoncasterHombre · 15/09/2021 23:12

or *earthquake Grin
