Can anyone recommend a properly leak proof kids water bottle suitable for a four year old?

Every single one I've tried just leaks all over her bag and I am getting sick of it!!!

Thanks!

We're using thermos flip too ones. I thought 6 quid for a kids water bottle was outrageous Grin

Do NOT buy the sistema twist too ones, they get disgusting quick and are a pain in the arse to reassemble.

Another vote for Contigo. Not sure if they still have them but a while back Costco were doing a Contigo 3 pack for a really great price. Might be worth a look.

gnatgnu · 14/09/2021 19:48

I got a couple of the ion8 ones in TK Maxx - they are great, and as mentioned before, not too big. I’d definitely recommend.

Oinkypig · 14/09/2021 19:50

I did like the soft rubber smiggle ones and found they never leaked and don’t break if they get dropped.

BareVanilla · 14/09/2021 19:50

Contigo. We’ve just bought a 3rd one after 4 years of alternative use of the first 2. I wanted one that didn’t look so scratched for holidays.

sylbunny · 14/09/2021 20:45

We've also got an Ion8 one which is great. My 3.5 year old has just worked out how to properly open and close it on her own.

UsedUpUsername · 14/09/2021 20:50

Camelbak is great, but if your kid is like mine then they’ll be chewing the nozzle to pieces. Luckily they sell replacements

MotherWol · 14/09/2021 21:39

Ion8, the metal ones are leakproof and don’t crack if dropped, although the finish does scratch easily. The little 400ml ones are a good size for school.

TolkiensFallow · 14/09/2021 21:41

I’ve got an SHO one. Pricey but no leaky

Lou573 · 14/09/2021 21:42

Was going to say the tinc one - lasted a year with no problems now. Found the camelbak eddy sprang a leak.

Simonjt · 14/09/2021 21:45

In reception I just sent mine in with a munchkin cup, the bottles that didn’t leak all had parts that were really hard to keep clean, so I was replacing straws etc all the time.

Dazedandc0nfused · 14/09/2021 21:47

Another vote for Ion8. Never had any crack on us, despite being repeatedly dropped. No leaking. Easy to clean too. Well worth the extra cost.

MrsPnut · 14/09/2021 21:47

@babycorn

Although, £18 for a flipping water bottle, flipping heck!!!!
But they really do last years and are tough enough to stand up to being chucked around in sports bags etc.
Mintyt · 15/09/2021 06:28

I have Contigo too, I've had it for 2 years and use it daily, I got mine brand new from a charity shop too! I also have the flask for hot drinks after being recommended on here, that's brilliant too

Costco usually do a pack of 3 for around or less than that of the kids size I’d you can get to one.

That’s where all our contigo bottles come from. Well some of them are avex, which is what they were called before they changed.

DC actually have the thermos ones for school. They didn’t want to use the contigo ones and the one green bottle/kleen kanteen style metal ones can’t be used as they have to be clear (and they’re too expensive to be let out of my sight!).
TeenMinusTests · 15/09/2021 08:36

Our sistema ones stay fine. We only put water in, and a regular flush through with hot water seems sufficient.

TheSockMonster · 15/09/2021 08:44

The only water bottle we’ve had that has reliably never leaked or broken is an older version of this £4 juicer bottle from Primark used without the juicer insert.

Over the years DD has got through bottles from Tinc, Smiggle, WH Smith, Hydroflask (£ouch) plus various sports bottles. All have eventually leaked or failed or have some sort of design flaw that means the cap doesn’t always seal correctly.

She is 11 now and has had it since she was about 6. I asked her if she wanted a new bottle when she started high school and she said what’s the point, I’ll just end up with this one.

I did like the soft rubber smiggle ones and found they never leaked and don’t break if they get dropped.

But they went mouldy for some reason.

I've been doing water bottles for 9 years and leaks have only been due to child not closing it properly.

Systema
Metal water bottles like chillys but cheaper brands.

Nat6999 · 15/09/2021 11:45

I have a SuperSparrow one from Amazon, it's a stainless steel one that comes with a normal top or a flip up straw one, I use the straw one & never have any leaks, even when I have woken up with it in bed. It came with a neoprene cover & a carabiner to attach to a bag. Mine is the 750ml size but they do all sizes.

tuppencenonethericher · 15/09/2021 21:31

Bought one of these 2 years ago for

KingdomScrolls · 15/09/2021 21:43

So not a child but DH dropped his contigo water bottle when he was clearing the guttering (just missed my car...), our ceilings are 10ft so our house is tall, the contigo is a bit dinged but still works perfectly and doesn't leak
