Can anyone recommend a properly leak proof kids water bottle suitable for a four year old?

Every single one I've tried just leaks all over her bag and I am getting sick of it!!!

Thanks!

Contigo, we have loads of them and they never leak.

Cuddlywaterfall · 14/09/2021 18:57

Contigo!

PalacePalacePalace · 14/09/2021 18:58

I had the same problem... These ones are great www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08DJ7C47R/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_N93E9P09ZSV2MEQ3HNQB?psc=1&_encoding=UTF8&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Agree with camelbak kids

Dragonpox · 14/09/2021 19:01

We found the straws break regularly on camelbak and are expensive to replace. My DD does like to chew at them though! But once they silicon is slightly torn theyre not leak proof.

We use contigo but also use a school bag with a side netting bit for the bottle.

TeenMinusTests · 14/09/2021 19:09

Presumably sistema no good as relies on her closing it?

tbh I would say she needs a bag with an external pocket holder for the water bottle. Anything else is asking for trouble.

babycorn · 14/09/2021 19:15

She can only take a book bag in! And yes, something that she can open and close easily.

Thanks for all the recommendations, think I will try the contigo one as the camelbak ones seem a bit complicated with the bite action.

Fed up of fishing her drowned precious 'creations' out, with the entire bag dripping along as we walk Blush

Although, £18 for a flipping water bottle, flipping heck!!!!

We’ve had a few of the Tyrell Katz kids water bottles and have had no leaks, as long as the lid part which covers the straw is down properly

TeenMinusTests · 14/09/2021 19:19

Bookbags aren't really designed for waterbottles. It's asking for trouble.
(I would just carry it for her in a coat pocket and hand it over at drop off.)

DinosApple · 14/09/2021 19:23

Sistema.
They do a flip lid one which is easier to open and means they're not putting grubby fingers on the bit they drink from.

babycorn · 14/09/2021 19:24

@TeenMinusTests why didn't I think of this?!? Genuis! Grin

Although, getting fed up of getting my bag soaked as well when we are out and about, and just did an experiment with her current one (a crappy nuby flop top one) and basically soaked myself. Time for an upgrade anyway!

*flip top. Although flop top is more apt.

I second (or third, or fourth!) Sistema. They are the best bottles I’ve found for non leakage, you are reliant on the kid shutting them properly though.

ignatiusjreilly · 14/09/2021 19:28

I agree with a previous poster who recommended ion8. The bottles are not too big, very sturdy, don't leak and kids find them easy to open. Plus there are no bits to go moldy.

The only downside is that they can't be put in the dishwasher, but the lack of fiddly bits makes them easy to wash.

Dragonpox · 14/09/2021 19:31

When my DD only had a book bag I bought a neoprene bottle holder with a clip from go outdoors so it is like a zip up jacket around the bottle and clips onto the book bag handle.

DGFB · 14/09/2021 19:32

The Camelbak chute has none of the silly bite action or pipe.. it’s much more user friendly. But still totally leakproof

SkankingMopoke · 14/09/2021 19:34

I've switched my (only recently) 5yo to metal bottles with a screw lid and open neck (ie no straw). She's managed with the screw top just fine, and it has eliminated the leaks.

superstar84 · 14/09/2021 19:34

Amazon do a great one by Tinc for £10

There's no straw for them to chew so it's lasted us 4 years!

Double lock on the lid and never leaked

There's other colours

LuckyAmy1986 · 14/09/2021 19:35

We use ion8 here too, no issues

LastToBePicked · 14/09/2021 19:42

Contigo or camelbak here, but yeah they are expensive (but proving you don’t lose them they last years and years).

Look up ‘bottle buddies’ for a bottle holder that is designed attach to book bags.

Dragonpox · 14/09/2021 19:43

School have banned non sport top ones here because they knock them over and ruin the whole table's work
