How often do you get a takeaway?

Usually Friday night after payday as family dinner.
I di have takeaway lunch 1 x week though wfh. Mix it up between sandwich shops/coffee shops/greggs - used to spend about £10 a day on breakfast/lunch/coffee in the office so feel like mytreat is well deserved.

HibouMilou · 10/09/2021 22:37

Hardly ever.
Maybe had one 5 years ago.
I can cook much nicer meals far cheaper & quicker.

notangelinajolie · 10/09/2021 22:37

Once a week. Fish and chips but only on a Friday. It's a family tradition going back to my Grandpa. I have no idea why because he wasn't Catholic..

PalacesOfMontezuma · 10/09/2021 22:42

About every 2 or 2 weeks. When we do it tends to be Fridays. It's a really rushed day for us so if we don't have suitable leftovers and neither of us has had a chance to prep anything during the day then it's takeaway night.

We had a lovely Indian this evening.

MrsBerthaRochester · 10/09/2021 22:45

For the kids once a week as gives me night off cooking. For myself maybe every couple of months. Never pizza though as they are a complete rip off.

CyclingIsNotOuting · 10/09/2021 22:48

Takeaway? Never. Alright, maybe once or twice a year.
Eat out? Every couple of weeks.

TheChosenTwo · 10/09/2021 22:52

Once a fortnight at the moment, far more than I’d like but dh does most of the cooking and he’s injured at the moment! He loves cooking but no one really likes my cooking because I hate doing it and it’s always shit, he says I cook with resentment and he can taste it Grin
I’ve been doing a bit more cooking to try and encourage him to rest up but tonight was a fuck it night, ordered the kids a McDonald’s and we got a curry. No regrets really, it was lovely! But ideally we’d rarely eat takeaway, it’s just never as nice as dh can cook at home!

SunSeaSurfGin · 10/09/2021 22:57

Once every month or 2. Depends in what else is happening

Tinpotspectator · 10/09/2021 22:59

3 or 4 times a year.

KrytaSeraph · 10/09/2021 23:06

None, as none where I live now Sad but I used to have it 3 times a month, one Friday an Indian, one a chippie and one a pizza.

ForgedInFire · 11/09/2021 00:52

Once a month. I would have one every week if I could afford it though

StrawberrySanta · 11/09/2021 00:55

Once or twice a month, would have one every weekend if we could afford it though

Silkiescatz · 11/09/2021 01:00

About 2 to 3 times a week, we love our takeaways and have a couple in the village and more in villages nearby. But we only eat out on holiday. Mainly have Chinese, indian or fish and chips. Occassionally Thai .

Homemadearmy · 11/09/2021 01:24

About once a month. Usually chips, but if it's a birthday then birthday person picks. I'd love it to be more often but sadly funds don't allow

echt · 11/09/2021 04:58

Never. OK, fish and chips about nine years ago.

Eat out on birthdays or meeting DD in town.

ISpyCobraKai · 11/09/2021 05:38

Generally weekly, or if its not an actual takeaway it's a supermarket version of one.
Mainly kebab from the actual takeaway, pizza or curry from the Supermarket.

Ohgawd2020 · 11/09/2021 06:01

Maybe twice a year but always end up full of regret and indigestion. I’d rather cook and save the money. We rarely eat out either. Might be due to living rurally as it’s actually more of an effort to get it!

miltonj · 11/09/2021 06:04

One or two a month. For my parents it's once in a blue moon. For my in laws it's a couple a week.

MrsDThomas · 11/09/2021 08:50

Hardly. 6 mile round trip to the nearest chippy. 10 to the chinese or indian

leavesthataregreen · 12/09/2021 16:46

I find takeaway food really gloomy. It comes in horrible little plastic pots. It arrives lukewarm or if it's pizza, it has steamed up in the box and the crispy bread has gone soggy and chewy. It always looks so obvious that whoever planned it is trying to spend as little as possible on ingredients. Wafer thin slices of fresh veg, gloopy cornflour-based sauces. Way too much oil. It costs a fortune. The time you wait to collect it or between ordering and it arriving, you can rustle up a really delicious healthy dinner for a fraction of the price. And you still have washing up and a night in not out!

With the exception of fish and chips, the rest is better made from scratch. I'd rather go out to eat less often to a good place.

LemonViolet · 12/09/2021 17:59

You need to find better takeaway places clearly Grin. It’s not always about the cost or what is the healthiest, and not everyone has the ability to just “rustle up” stuff from scratch all the time. But great for you that you can!

I definitely can’t do sushi, dim sum or even dirty burgers at home as well as I can get delivered within 20-30 min!

User4378645 · 12/09/2021 18:01

Hardly ever, not that keen on it

leavesthataregreen · 12/09/2021 18:23

But it's weird because I had inedible - absolutely disgusting - takeaways from two favourite restaurants where we used to eat regularly and the food there was great. I can't go back to either of them now because my stomach clenches at the thought of being served the grey cornflour gloop and pools of grease that passed for food during lockdown. In the restaurant, these places had sizzling fresh dishes that bore no resemblance to the take-out prison slop.
LemonViolet · 12/09/2021 18:39

Yup, that’s weird. But not a universal truth.

Silkiescatz · 12/09/2021 18:43

That is strange. Our takeaways are identical to eating in but cost is about half as can share and no drinks and are hot and also didn't change in lockdown other than prices had to rise about 50p per meal or £1 as ingredient prices rose and where harder to find.
