Night owls, why are you awake (2.30am?)

momiamarichman · 03/09/2021 02:35

I'm feeling very anxious tonight with my emetophobia unfortunately (fear of vomiting).

Have a bit of stomach pain but I'm due on my period in a week so trying to be rational that it could come early or be gas etc.

Really worked myself up, going to have to go in the living room soon if it's not better as I'll wake my partner up Blush

I also have an essay to finish this weekend so that's stressing me out too. Sad

What's keeping you awake?

Toddler woke me about 2.45 she’s Back asleep but I’m wide awake feeling like shit! Think I’ll have an awful cold in the morning

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 03/09/2021 03:32

@Kat3511 @fattymumbum I have spoken to him and he either says he can't help more as he's working or he gets defensive and dies less OR this week he's made some effort but it doesn't last more than a few days.

@fattymumbun that sounds tough for your DP

MarieVanGoethem · 03/09/2021 03:33

Joint pain. Which has now improved enough (thanks to medication for breakthrough pain) that I’m no longer crying & making weird jerky movements. Not exactly writhing just… my body seems to be trying to move away from the source of the pain - which doesn’t exactly work when it is the source of the pain. So I find myself twisting about without wanting/meaning to. Now I’m just in too much pain to sleep, despite being utterly wiped (& mostly having issues with randomly falling asleep at the drop of any garment you care to mention, no limiting myself to hats). It is a very definite improvement, don’t get me wrong, but I’m quite hoping sheer exhaustion will win out soon because I’ve 3 in-person hospital appointments today & could really do with being [at least vaguely…] functional for them.

I hope everyone else on thread manages to get to sleep soon & doesn’t feel grim tomorrow Flowers
@NothingIsWrong what is positive for you ? Have you tried to loose weigh or are you unsure where to start xx
Job is stressful but I do love it. Lovely people and it's public sector and I make a difference.

I know where to start. Eat less, move more. Baby steps. DH is very overweight as well but I have to look after myself first now I think and not worry where he is going with his life

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 03/09/2021 03:35

@MimiDaisy11 my DS is about 2 months as well

So I was up 1-3, put baby in his cot, he was up again from 3:15

Thought it might be wind but he's fine a small burp and is feeding again...

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 03/09/2021 03:36

It's my nan's funeral tomorrow and I know my mum will be in pieces and I won't be able to make it better for her. Feel sad.

PurplePosies · 03/09/2021 03:50

Flowers for everyone having a tough time tonight.

I have covid and asthma, so I'm wheezy, can't breathe properly when I lie down, keep coughing etc. DS came and got me off the couch at 2am and made me jump in with him for a cuddle, but he's had enough now so I'm up again Sad.

Lotusmonster · 03/09/2021 03:51

Loads of reasons. Went off well at midnight. DH woke me up when he went for a wee. We have an adult DC in a psychiatric hospital since March…so I am very triggered anyway these days.

weegiemum · 03/09/2021 03:55

Dog barked
Neuropathic foot pain
Dh away overnight so I feel more than usual that I'm "on duty" which is ridiculous as the 2 dc still at home are 17 and 19 and capable of looking after themselves.

fattymumbum · 03/09/2021 03:56

Thank you @bunnythefriendlydragon and @riverpebbles.

I've fed the baby too, which is what's just made me get up. Mine is nearly 4 months. I think he really needs counselling because I could tell something was eating him up but didn't know what. He won't want it.

@bunnythefriendlydragon this is probably the wrong way about it but my dad would never settle back in the cot after being fed and I just used to cry with the sheer exhaustion. Sometimes I'd cry extra loud to wake him up. So there would be me crying and the baby crying/wailing very loudly, he would wake in a shock and usually take care of the situation because nobody but him was going to manage to fix two crying people. X Probably not the right way to go about it but I was emotional.

BritishSummertime · 03/09/2021 03:56

Woke up needing a wee & just can't get back to sleep. Usually reading for a bit helps but not tonight so I moved into Mumsnet.

Also relocated to the spare room so I don't disturb DH.

We've got a day out tomorrow so I'll be tired 🥱

languagelover96 · 03/09/2021 03:58

I can't sleep either, good morning all.

BadTimesAtTheElRoyale · 03/09/2021 04:05

New puppy's first night.

Night owls, why are you awake (2.30am?)
Trumpton · 03/09/2021 04:07

Ah bums!
I rarely sleep well but tonight has been particularly bad.
I feel out of sorts and many dreams …not ill as such but…..
Did a lft and it’s showing positive.
Supposed to be taking dgc ( all asleep here as a treat) on the steam train for breakfast.

Auroreforet · 03/09/2021 04:07

@Invasionofthegutsnatchers Flowers

My elderly df is staying with us.
He's fallen over 2 days running and tomorrow we're supposed to take him home (different country).
I don't think he will manage on his own.
All our travel is booked and his travel insurance finishes on Saturday.
Some difficult decisions ahead.

PurplePosies · 03/09/2021 04:08

Super cute puppy! Always good to have a doggy companion in the night.

Izzy24 · 03/09/2021 04:10

Long covid insomnia….

PurplePosies · 03/09/2021 04:16

Don't tell me I'll have covid AND long covid insomnia Sad

MaintainingPositivity · 03/09/2021 04:16

Panicking about being in the office full time as from next week, well not the office but it's the housework which won't get done. Currently trying to find an app so the whole family can share it and each of us do our bit.

DH is snoring his head of which isn't helpful Hmm

FrozenCremeEgg · 03/09/2021 04:30

Just laying here mumsnetting,
Not any reason really, got into a bad routine with late to bed, late to rise

MrTumblesSpottyHag · 03/09/2021 04:35

Combination of DH's headphones bleeping with low battery 😡, two tasks at work that I really should've dealt with days ago and kids back to school tomorrow (today 😬)
DD1 will cry and cling to me and I'm only now realising how much I've enjoyed the last 6 weeks of not having to peel her off me every morning 😔

fattymumbum · 03/09/2021 04:45

@maintainingpositivity have you tried the organised mum method? They have an app and a tick list. I'm just about to start it soon. Or it might be under team tomm

Good luck for the office xxx

123feraverto · 03/09/2021 04:47

Tail end of a gallbladder attack making me feel hot and nauseous

Also breastfeeding my nearly 12 week old baby

OneGlamMama · 03/09/2021 05:30

Been trying to go to sleep since 10pm.

All because of this stupid long Covid cough. Coughed so much I almost threw up. I feel horrific.

Ringing drs at 8am. Have such a fear of anything medical so I hate being ill Sad
