I need to buy a high quality winter coat in a petite length

It looks like Precis no longer exists.

I need a proper, good quality winter coat with at least 70% wool, not another polyester thing.

I'm 5ft 1 and it needs to be in a petite length, but nobody seems to be making quality petites any more. Please help!

I'm not prepared to risk Ebay any more. Last year I tried buying two different Precis coats on Ebay, two different sellers, and both of them arrived absolutely stinking of air freshener and perfume etc and I couldn't get the smell out. So I do need to find a proper retailer to buy something new.

When you say proper winter coat, I think north face or didriksons, as I live rurally and want down, waterproof and practical.

Do you mean like a wool coat that you’d wear for a smart business type outfit ?

Yes, one that you'd wear in the city.

Have you looked at Land's End? I had a lovely petite 80/20 wool one a couple of years back (before my last precis petite). Their colours are sometimes a bit out there but worth a try.

Fenn Wright Manson petite can be good. Haven’t looked for their coats though.

Can you cope with a champagne coloured coat? this looks good if so and a bit of a bargain too.

@tectonicplates you could try posting this to Style and Beauty. Alternatively do a recent search for petite on that board and it will come up with threads which might have brands you haven’t looked at.

I agree with look at Phase Eight, also look at Reiss. No petite admittedly but their small sizes are small all over.

I'm 5ft and have a lovely wool petite winter coat from Debenhams. Unfortunately I bought this before they were bought out by Boohoo so I'm not sure if the quality is still the same.

Reiss sizing is tiny. Also maybe Allsaints? Or Kooples.

I know this joint sound strange but I’m the same height as you and buy all my coats from Cos. There’s basically always a couple of coats each season that are quite small fitting and fitted, and not like their usual voluminous stuff.

Maybe you're a bit early.

There's a few on sale in John Lewis but I suspect that there will be limited size availability if you look properly so maybe they're clearing last year's leftover stock and the new ones will be in soon?

@RunnerDown I'm so confused about Reiss. I can see from looking at those coats that some of them are made in a petite length, yet there seems to be no actual petite section on the site, IYSWIM. It's great that they make a few in a petite, but I have to look at every item to see if each item has a petite or not, and there's no way of filtering the results. What a badly designed website! I'll have a look through though.
