My husband is having emergency brain surgery, hand hold needed

So my husband has hydrocephalus with a couple shunt fitted, has had it for nearly 20 years. This morning he woke up with a 10/10 headache, vomiting and blurred vision. CT scan showed very enlarged ventricles and a blocked shunt. He went in to theatre at 4pm to replace the shunt -normally a 2 hour procedure. His surgeon called me at 7pm saying that he has had a haemorrhage after they put the new shunt in, he's still in surgery now. I am absolutely terrified that I'm going to lose him, he's only 33 and has two you daughters I can't believe this is happening. Please mumsnetters I don't post here much but feel so scared and alone. He is the love of my life and I can't do this without him

I'm so glad he's doing ok. I don't know if this is any comfort or not, but it's highly likely he won't remember this few days properly or even at all. I've nursed neurosurgery patients for years. The restraints feel horrible to look at, but people in this stage mostly don't remember it.

I’m glad he should recover. Immediate aftermath of these things is always horrible but the memories fade. Sending big hugs to you all.
