Is a kitchen aid worth the money!

Just that. I've been lusting after one for ages.

I do a lot of cooking and love baking. But it's very £££ is it really worth it?

I use mine as a cheese grater. That’s it.

Still, worth the money for me because I grate a lot of cheese.

Mybestgirl · 23/08/2021 16:17

We have one and really like it. We do a fair amount of baking so we get plenty of use out of it.

NannyR · 23/08/2021 16:18

I don't have a kitchenaid but I spent a similar amount on a Kenwood chef titanium about 10 years ago and have never regretted buying it. I use it several times a week - it has food processor and blender attachments too, so it's useful for all sorts of cooking jobs as well as baking.

Graceymac99 · 23/08/2021 16:19

Mine is used often for baking. It’s older than my DD1 who is now 13 and looks as good as new. I love it. It still works as well as the day I got it and looks lovely in the counter. You can get lots of extra parts and attachments for grating/mincing/pasta making etc. I would definitely recommend it.

twinningatlife · 23/08/2021 16:23

Absolutely worth it - I love it 😻

Aquamarine1029 · 23/08/2021 16:24

Yes. Definitely.

madmumofteens · 23/08/2021 16:28

Love mine had it for 7years!! Haven't grated cheese though maybe time for some new attachments lol

Littlegoth · 23/08/2021 16:30

Not the food processor. Had a nightmare trying to get it fixed on warranty, and to be honest it wasn’t user friendly in the first place. Stand mixer is great though.

ReviewingTheSituation · 23/08/2021 16:32

What kind of KitchenAid?

Do you mean a stand mixer or a processor?

I have both. I LOVE my stand mixer - it was a 40th birthday present, and I imagine it will see me to the end of forever. I use it mainly for baking, but its big advantage for me is that the motor is strong enough to cope with a LOT of dough when I'm using the dough hook. I haven't got any of the attachments that go on the front, but I'm toying with a pasta one.

My processer on the other hand is no better than any other processer. Something happened to the lid, and they couldn't replace it for some reason, so they replaced the whole machine. But it's really fiddly getting it to work if you're not using the main bowl (it has a smaller bowl that sits inside the main one for smaller amounts), and the grater/slicer attachment only works about 1 in every 50 tries. I spend so long trying to get it to work that I usually give up and grate by hand. So I wouldn't bother paying the premium for it if I had my time again.

Getabloominmoveon · 23/08/2021 16:36

Yes.

ExpatForLife · 23/08/2021 16:37

I just replaced mine after 25 years and 4 countries. It was the last of our US electrics to finally give up. We use it almost every weekend but we bake a lot.

Emmab321 · 23/08/2021 16:47

Yep - I love mine !!

NewUser123456789 · 23/08/2021 16:48

I have a Kenwood chef XL but absolutely yes, I love it. I have the pasta cutter, food processor and meat grinder attachments which are great too.

mobear · 23/08/2021 16:52

I had one but I found it took up too much counter-space and was a bit unwieldy to store/ take out. I recently bought a Magimix but I haven't tested it out yet. It feels a lot less cumbersome though.

fallfallfall · 23/08/2021 16:59

i've had mine for 38 years. mine has the original HOBART parts.
yes it's well and frequently used; dh makes bread twice weekly and i just yesterday grated zucchini (same equipment as the cheese grater).
my issue is they are no longer made with the same quality.
so as much as i love mine, i don't know if i would recommend it since the company sale and cheaper parts.

pecanmix · 23/08/2021 17:21

I absolutely love mine. If you love baking it is absolutely worth it.

Girlintheframe · 24/08/2021 00:14

Just getting back to this thread now I'm finished work.
Yes I meant the stand mixer, sorry should have said that!
Maybe it's time I splash some cash and got one

Depends what you want to do with it....I have a kenwood chefette ( 75 quid) ....it does everything I need and more.... but won’t be sufficient for other people

BasicDad · 24/08/2021 00:42

Kitchenaid is fab, if you have the space. I use a Thermomix TM6 which is similar on the processing side, but cooks also.

Wouldn't be without it now, even if very expensive to stay with.

DramaAlpaca · 24/08/2021 00:43

Yes! Get one, you won't regret it.

Make sure you get a pretty colour, keep it on your worktop and stroke it every day. They are very strokable.

Cameleongirl · 24/08/2021 00:48

I was given one for a wedding present 20 years ago. It’s been hauled along on multiple moves and is still going strong. I live it!

Cameleongirl · 24/08/2021 00:49

*love

Shopaholic100 · 24/08/2021 01:04

Love mine in Cranberry pink. It’s the perfect size and powerful enough if you do lots of baking. The difficult part is deciding which colour to go for as they are all so nice! I have the toaster and kettle too, which are both great.

I was contemplating getting a food processor and blender too, but they don’t seem to be getting the same positive reviews, so I’m not sure.
