Is a kitchen aid worth the money!

Just that. I've been lusting after one for ages.

I do a lot of cooking and love baking. But it's very £££ is it really worth it?

@NannyR

I don't have a kitchenaid but I spent a similar amount on a Kenwood chef titanium about 10 years ago and have never regretted buying it. I use it several times a week - it has food processor and blender attachments too, so it's useful for all sorts of cooking jobs as well as baking.
I have one of these too. You can buy lots of attachments for different things and although I don't use it as much as I should it's a workhorse when needed and I don't regret buying it.

We've had ours for ten years and love it. It looks so beautiful that we keep it out all the time. We use it several times a week and it's a brilliant piece of kit.

Love my Kitchen Aid mixer - tried others but this is far better, especially if you love baking! Also got the KA liquidiser, which is great for soups, sauces, milkshakes etc. Go on, treat yourself!!

AlternativePerspective · 24/08/2021 06:43

The mixer absolutely, all the rest though are trading off the back of the mixer. I hated my kettle with a passion, and my parents have the toaster which is crap.

I have a quisenart (sp?) food processor which I love.

purplesequins · 24/08/2021 06:44

imo no.
but if you like it and would use it a lot, sure go ahead.

I decided on a sleek bosch mum in the end. it takes up a lot less counter space and is a lot quieter.
also the attachments go on the top and not the front of the machine and take less space.

Yes , every penny , make sure you get a colour that you love ❤️

Vanda189 · 24/08/2021 07:02

The stand mixer? Definitely.
Mine is 21 years old, has been through 4 house moves, looks lovely, and is still used for baking and dough most weeks.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 24/08/2021 07:06

Its very pretty, but I love and use my Thermomix much more.

cookiemonster5 · 24/08/2021 07:15

Yes! Got mine for Xmas last year and I love it! I have the food processor attachment and grate cheese, make coleslaw and prep veg for soups etc in seconds now. And it's so quick and easy to bake with and the results are amazing. It is also quick to clean as almost everything can go in the dishwasher and looks pretty on the worktop too!

Stickytreacle · 24/08/2021 07:48

Going to go against the train and say no, I much prefer using a hand mixer for cakes, mine is used for mixing the Christmas cake and bread dough, I don't bake lots of bread. It is pretty though.

Azilliondegrees · 24/08/2021 07:51

The last thing I bought for myself when I realised I was pregnant (a long time ago and have obviously had other new things since, but this was a last splurge). It’s really good, I really love it. Doesn’t get as much use as it should, because these days if I bake it gets eaten mostly by me and DH and that’s not so great, but it does make excellent cakes. I also use it for bread dough. I did have the ice cream attachment which was great fun but sadly broke.

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 24/08/2021 07:54

We looked at it and bought kenwood kmix
Cheaper and high powered motor.
We make all sorts and love the pasta attachment

adagio · 24/08/2021 08:13

I got a (pretty colour) k mix as @LivingLaVidaBabyShower says it’s got a stronger motor and was a better price point (still £££ though). Use it loads and 10y on still going strong. I love it.

Unprecedentedusername · 24/08/2021 08:20

I have a kitchenaid stand mixer and a Kenwood chef. Kitchenaid looks pretty but is flimsy compared to 25 year old Kenwood. My fancy KA bowl faded in dishwasher

TheGenealogist · 24/08/2021 08:27

Yes! I bought mine about 4 years ago and I love it.

I got a good price though, it was a run-out model in a discontinued colour and it was only about £300 instead of £450 or something. It's an amazing piece of kit though, we use it lots and it will last a lifetime.

Empressofthemundane · 24/08/2021 08:30

Love my mixer. Made in Michigan, USA will last more than a lifetime.
Not so impressed with their blender though.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 24/08/2021 08:57

My preference is for Kenwood Chef largely because they are cheaper, and accessories and spares are cheaper and easier to source (assuming that you live in the UK). They aren’t as pretty as KitchenAid though so if you want a KA then get one. They are good machines. I’d have a KA if I still lived in the USA.

shallIswim · 24/08/2021 18:44

Yes. Look out for deals. I got mine when there was a free ice cream maker attachment. That alone has been fab.

ShellyShore · 24/08/2021 18:50

I would check out the power of the motors of other makes before committing, op. You'll find there are better ones for less money.
