What little thing in life do you enjoy?

I love my family - I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 3 months old. Everyone is still asleep and I'm having a coffee, browsing mumsnet for advice. The silence & the peace is beautiful.

I love it. What do you love, what's your little thing in life that gives you pleasure? Xx

Another early bird here…teenagers fast asleep, the cats are next to me and a big pot of tea in bed.

Nobody needs anything from me right now and this is blissful!

MissyB1 · 22/08/2021 08:24

Getting up super early to go for a swim. I’m often in the pool at 7am. It’s bliss, so quiet and I can start the day peacefully.
Alternatively an evening swim, ending the day peacefully.

BreakfastOfWaffles · 22/08/2021 08:26

I love my 15 minute bedtime yoga session. I try to do it every night, so relaxing.

2 cups of coffee before getting up, browsing through FB memories...I do it every morning.
Morning dog walking through the woods. .it was just me and Ddog today, not another soul about.

FeralMeryl · 22/08/2021 08:35

An early coffee in the back garden, birds singing, the way the early sun lights the clouds, the fresh air, all the possibility of a new day.

Walking into a tidy room.

Mydogisagentleman · 22/08/2021 08:47

I am generally up by 6, so it’s me, the dog, coffee and cigs.
Currently DH is away, DD is back from university and came home at 5.30.
I am most looking forward to going to the beach with the dog, and possibly daughter if she gets up. Then I am planning to peel the protective plastic from all off my new cupboard doors

dorothygaleandtoto · 22/08/2021 08:50

I love it when my dog wags her tail in her sleep. I hope she's dreaming of lovely days we've spent together, probably involving squirrels or meeting new dogs at the park. It makes me so happy to see her content.

Themadcatparade · 22/08/2021 08:53

We have a beautiful tree in view of the bedroom window across the street outside our home.

I’m sat up in bed this Sunday morning with a coffee listening to life outside the bedroom window and studying the tree. The past two days it’s started to finally get a few orange leaves amongst its usual summer deep purple ready for the autumn. Me and my DP love to see the changes in the tree over the seasons (we call him Bob as he looks like Sideshow Bob from The Simpson’s in the summer). He seems to have a totally different personality with every month of the year. The squirrels seems to love the tree too so it’s nice watching them play.

Man I’m going to miss Bob when we finally move home, he's an icon in our relationship and been part of our weekend coffee mornings for years since back when I first met my DP Sad

Xtraincome · 22/08/2021 08:57

-Morning coffee
-Listening to my DDs (3 and 6) playing together. They have big imaginations and love each other so much and have their own silly words and goofy ways.
-Falling asleep on the sofa watching TV at night when everyone else is in bed. DH is up early so some nights if I'm not tired I have milk and biscuits and binge familiar cartoon series- yes I am an adult, I promise!

ItsAChallengingWank · 22/08/2021 09:04

Very early morning, window open, sat in bed with a coffee listening to nothing and feeling the cool air

A cheese board - all to myself 😂

Walking the dog alone

Watching my dc play on the park or exploring somewhere new

Watching the birds on the feeders

Buying someone a random gift for no reason other than I've seen it and thought that person would like it

Christmas

ItsAChallengingWank · 22/08/2021 09:05

@TheDuchessofDukeStreet that's a lovely idea! I might nab that one

HuntingoftheSnark · 22/08/2021 09:19

I'm usually up at 5.30am - love that time before work - just lots of tea and the cat.
The cat, all other times.
Getting into bed with clean and lovely smelling sheets.

Samanabanana · 22/08/2021 09:29

Early morning cuddles in bed with DC- sadly these are few and far between now that he's getting older Sad

Getting into fresh bedsheets

Sitting on the step on our patio in the spring sunshine with a cup of tea

abouquetofsharpenedpencils · 22/08/2021 09:29

These are lovely Smile.
Especially love “Bob the Tree”

Have also recently started the assigning a series to a set night OP. We are watching Poldark on Friday evenings now - love it and am enjoying the anticipation of “having to” wait till the next week like the olden days when everyone would gather in the living room to watch a programme at a specific time!!
On Sunday afternoons I watch Virgin River by myself, DH not a big fan.

MotherWol · 22/08/2021 09:30

I got really into houseplants in lockdown 1 so usually once a week I have a plant maintenance day. I love gathering them all together to water them, see how they’re growing, see the kitchen table covered with pots of green. I have a monstera called Swiss Toni who’s gone from being a tiny plant from the clearance table to a thriving jungly thing and it really makes me happy to see every time he grows a new leaf.

Petardos · 22/08/2021 09:44

Play with my dog.

I used to be able to do this. It always feels amazing.
Buggerthebotox · 22/08/2021 11:11

Fridays. It's my day off. Pottering around the house, enjoying the relative tidiness, doing the odd chore, and putting on a film. If it's raining, even better. I love being inside when it's raining. Film would be Brief Encounter/something classic or noir.

Dd is in the house too, and doing her own thing in the background.

Laaaaa · 22/08/2021 11:22

My spike mat, getting into bed with gravity blanket, audible, munching treats in the car alone!, monthly beauty box, hello fresh, FaceTime with family and friends, podcasts, getting embroiled in a tv show, line of duty, at work when service users are discharged doing well, AA meetings, my phone, having a car.... I have lots!

OldTinHat · 22/08/2021 11:33

Going to bed at night when the weather is horrendous and snuggling under my weighted blanket feeling safe and relaxed.

Giggorata · 22/08/2021 11:34

The dawn chorus.

Sitting outside watching the swifts in the summer months.

Watching the sky change colour, to that wonderful dusky blue, the birds gradually quietening, the appearance of the first star and the night smell.

Sitting down with a pot of tea and a book by the fire

All the internet possibilities, including FaceTime with far flung family

Actually, put all this together and it sounds like a perfect day!

Crocky · 22/08/2021 11:42

Just sitting here reading all these has made me smile and feel more relaxed.
I love the early morning peace in the conservatory with a cup of tea or five before the rest of the house are up.

Oblomov21 · 22/08/2021 11:43
