Covid - the family game

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 19/08/2021 14:19

1 house
4 teams
Team A: 3 adults, double jabbed last Sat
Team B: 1 adult, 1st jab last Sat
Team C: 1 16yo, 1st jab last Sat
Team D: 4 children under 16

1 positive lateral flow test today because of Covid symptoms this morning - let's call them Cyrus the Virus 😉

You have 48 hours to answer 3 questions:

Q1: Who can leave the house?
Q2: Who needs to isolate and for how long?
Q3: Does it matter which team Cyrus is in, would that change answers to Q1 & Q2?

Let's get ready to RUMBLE!

(Disclaimer: there are no prizes and I have no clue what the correct answers are, I'm so confused by rules.
TIA for any replies)

Any adult who is double vaxxed can leave the house unless they test positive. Anyone under 18 can leave the house unless they test positive. The single vaxxed adult must isolate for 10 days, regardless of whether they test positive or negative. And obviously the person with the positive test result must isolate for 10 days.

Ideally, everyone in the house should get a PCR.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 19/08/2021 14:45

thank you

I think it's two weeks past double-vax, isn't it? So the adults can't leave the house.

Abraxan · 19/08/2021 14:48

Any adult who is double vaxxed can leave the house unless they test positive.

Only is they are 14 days post last/second vaccine.

Team A, C and D unless they have tested positive themselves. Everyone is advised to take a pcr test.

PurpleDaisies · 19/08/2021 14:51

Just to confirm, you are in England?

WhatHaveIFound · 19/08/2021 14:51

As far as I understand you're only considered fully vaccinated 14 days after the second dose so only C & D would be able to leave the house (unless they're one with the positive lateral flow).

Cyrus should isolate for 10 days and do a PCR test. Everyone else would be advised to test too.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 19/08/2021 14:51

so nobody can go anywhere for 2 weeks from today?

or 2 weeks from last Sat?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 19/08/2021 14:52

@PurpleDaisies

Just to confirm, you are in England?
yes
OP posts:
Abraxan · 19/08/2021 14:53

Team A: 3 adults, double jabbed last Sat Team B: 1 adult, 1st jab last Sat Team C: 1 16yo, 1st jab last Sat Team D: 4 children under 16

Q1
Team c and d do not need to self isolate unless they test positive. It needs confirming with a pcr.

Q2:
Team a and b need to SI for ten days from when symptoms started, or if asymptomatic from date of test.

If one of team c or d tested positive then that individual beds to SI for ten days.

Q3:
Yes - it makes a difference if it was one of teams c or d. They then need to SI. If it is someone else then they don't.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 19/08/2021 14:53

Ah right, missed that bit!
Abraxan · 19/08/2021 14:54

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba

so nobody can go anywhere for 2 weeks from today?

or 2 weeks from last Sat?

The SI is from the date of the symptoms starting or if asymptotic from the date of the test being done.
PurpleDaisies · 19/08/2021 14:54

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba

Hang on, do you mean the team A adults only had their second jab on Saturday? I thought you meant they became fully vaccinated on Saturday ie 2 weeks after the second jab.
Waxonwaxoff0 · 19/08/2021 14:55

So basically, none of the adults can leave the house but the kids can, unless one of the kids is Cyrus.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 19/08/2021 14:56

btw thanks for all answers, I'm reading everything even if I don't answer each person.

We are trying to figure out if we can get free PCR tests somehow, I don't have a spare £675 to test us all right now.

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 19/08/2021 14:57

Why would you need to pay for a pcr test? Confused

PurpleDaisies · 19/08/2021 14:57

Book for free here.

PCRs are free. You have been in close contact with a positive case so can get PCRs under those guidelines.
Wimowehwimowehwimowehwimoweh · 19/08/2021 14:58

Tests are free ?

Abraxan · 19/08/2021 14:58

Are you in England?

Are you getting a pcr for symptoms?
Then it's free via NHS.

Are you getting a pcr for close contact?
Again, it's free.

You only need paid for ones if you are travelling abroad.

PurpleDaisies · 19/08/2021 14:59

Is “Cyrus” a child or adult?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 19/08/2021 15:01

I only Googled it and saw it was £75.

thanks for link @PurpleDaisies

OP posts:
UserStillatLarge · 19/08/2021 15:02

Cyrus needs to get a PCR test. If it's negative, no one needs to isolate.

Abraxan · 19/08/2021 15:03

Team A: 3 adults, double jabbed last Sat

They will need to SI as a close contact, or if positive.
When it is two weeks since their second jab, they won't have to SI for being a close contact - only if they themselves test positive.

Team B: 1 adult, 1st jab last Sat

They will need to SI as a close contact, or if positive.
When it is two weeks since their second jab, they won't have to SI for being a close contact - only if they themselves test positive.

Team C: 1 16yo, 1st jab last Sat

They don't need to SI as a close contact, regardless of vaccine status.
If they test positive they need to SI for ten days.

Team D: 4 children under 16

They don't need to SI as a close contact, regardless of vaccine status.
If they test positive they need to SI for ten days.
