Fabulous afternoon tea suggestions in London?

We did want to come to London to go to Claridges but it’s full. So is the Dorchester, The Savoy and the Goring.

I’ve booked Browns Hotel and I can book Fortnum and Mason but I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for a special occasion afternoon tea?

The Ritz. Famous for their afternoon tea.

Went to The Woseley pre covid times for afternoon tea, it was lovely! Not as serene as the savoy but excellent tea and service and great people watching

The Ritz. Famous for their afternoon tea.
Thank you. It’s full.

The Wellesley is amazing. Beautiful interior, great service and delicious food.

bassackwards · 17/08/2021 20:21

Either browns or fortnums would be fab. Alternatively: savoy?

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 17/08/2021 20:22

The Langham

Guineapiggiesmalls · 17/08/2021 20:23

Second The Langham. Most beautiful afternoon tea I’ve ever had.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 17/08/2021 20:23

Sorry, ignore me. I meant the Lanesborough

bassackwards · 17/08/2021 20:24

Oh sorry you said savoy is full. Yes to the Langham as someone else has said. We had tea there recently and loved the atmosphere and service (and pianist!) the food was very mindfully prepared and plentiful Grin

Little random but the Fan museum in Greenwich is suppose to be fab.
Otherwise afternoon tea at Libertys is nice but not super special

The Mandarin Oriental is lovely too, equally as nice as Claridges. The Goring is ok, but whipped not clotted cream when we went. Fortnum’s is ok but not really special. Quite like the Berkeley or the Corinthian too.

dontcallmelen · 17/08/2021 20:31

Think it was the lanesborough that had a very good review in the times on Sunday.

Dazedandconfused28 · 17/08/2021 20:32

The Berkeley is the best I've had, I think the Ritz is overrated. Dorchester is good, but I see it's full

OatyLatte · 17/08/2021 20:33

Fortnums afternoon tea was fab, we found it was better than The Ritz tbh.

Dazedandconfused28 · 17/08/2021 20:33

Lanesborough also good!

Ahwig · 17/08/2021 20:34

I took my mum to Harrods and that was lovely although it was a couple of years ago

Usernamenotavailabletryanother · 17/08/2021 20:37

Sketch, it’s brilliant. Especially with champagne…

ruthieness · 17/08/2021 20:38

The Sanderson mad hatters tea is v modern - the lobby is great for photos - dont miss the pool table room!

Dogoodfeelgood · 17/08/2021 20:38

Sketch is really cool for afternoon tea! Might also be booked though.

LadyofMisrule · 17/08/2021 20:39

I had a very nice afternoon tea with a group of friends at the Royal Horseguards Hotel a few years ago. We had a private room because there were a few of us.

Dogoodfeelgood · 17/08/2021 20:39

Absolutely fantastic high tea at Petersham Nurseries as well, but that’s in Richmond so quite far out. Would recommend to everyone though!

LakeShoreD · 17/08/2021 20:40

Zetter Townhouse, The Woseley or Sketch.
The Shangri La in the Shard also does a less traditional one that had sushi, spring rolls and other similar bits in place of the sandwiches.

FightingtheFoo · 17/08/2021 20:41

The Ampersand has the absolute best afternoon tea - the food is exquisite, I've been a bunch of times. Not quite the same atmosphere as The Ritz but very much worth it.

You could also try The Corinthia and Kensington Town House (I haven't been to the latter but it looks gorgeous)
