Inspired by watching El Camino on Netflix... Lots of breaking of burner phones. Literally just snapping them in half... Er I'm sure that doesn't stop your phone being traced.. Surely it's the sim card you need to destroy..
What do you find unrealistic in films or on TV?

When people leave to live somewhere else they put all of their belongings in a hold-all or a suitcase that they can actually manage to lift.

CathyorClaire · 12/08/2021 21:20

Someone exploring strange sounds in the cellar in a creepy, isolated house and the rest of the cast letting them. Never ends well.

Have they ever watched a horror?

JemimaTab · 12/08/2021 21:20

In detective shows, where they have the big whiteboard with photos of the suspects and arrows drawn all over it - where do they get the perfectly posed mugshots of everyone from?? Often these are people they’ve not even questioned yet. That always irritates me.

Twinklettoz · 12/08/2021 21:22

When people brush their teeth. No toothpaste foam in mouth from brushing and they don't rinse properly.

Obviously empty cups .. every single time! Just put some brown water in them!

GetTaeFuck · 12/08/2021 21:38

Every house is always show home immaculate

doingadisservice · 12/08/2021 21:45

CPR- always revives a patient within a couple of breaths and compressions.

Nobody finishes a meal

Drink driving- people will be drinking shots in the bay and then drive home completely sober

Nobody gets concussion- knocked out cold and fighting back 10mins later.

People with kids able to go out at the drop of a hat or work through the night without reference to childcare.

purpledagger · 12/08/2021 21:47

In USA - as well as the huge breakfasts, it's the Xmas style dinners, every night. Everyone has a huge plate of food, but the table is full of extra food in serving dishes. Who eats all that food? Who does the cleaning up.

Twinklettoz · 12/08/2021 21:50

Washing up dishes. The tap is never running.

I laugh when you see someone on TV purchase a takeaway coffee. It's so light it's like air. 😂

The women are always sex ready. Especially in Sex/Life. It was a great series but going down on her after a night out?! Please!

I’d need 10 minutes in the bathroom with a washcloth and talc before I’d let him anywhere near that sweaty mess!!

gizmo4 · 12/08/2021 21:55

They never have curtains pulled in the bedroom when going to bed.

NigelWithTheBrie79 · 12/08/2021 21:57

Not sure if this counts but it really pisses me off when anyone professional or an expert starts to explain something (legal jargon/medical/scientific etc etc), some dickhead usually interrupts them with "Erm again in English?!" I know why they do it but it just makes me want to see the character concerned fall down a newly formed fault line crack.

Hopdathelf · 12/08/2021 21:58

I always keep my bra on during sex.

BingoBhango · 12/08/2021 22:00

Nobody ever uses condoms! Instead, the clothes seem to melt off as if by magic then the couple get straight into it. No awkward conversation about "Do you have a condom?" "Er, yes I think so. There's one in the drawer. Hold on, I'll fetch it".

3luckystars · 12/08/2021 22:02

I haven’t watched Eastenders in years but I do remember them handing an apron over and saying ‘mind my stall’ but never saying what the prices were. I suppose if you were next to a fruit stall though you would have a rough idea of the prices of apples and pears.

I also notice in a lot of programmes about workplaces, people talk and keep walking or just walk off or hang up without saying goodbye or ‘see ya later’. I would think that was rude in real life not to round of the conversation with a farewell.

Waters breaking then immediately into screaming labour and the baby pops out looking about 3 months old a few minutes later

Echobelly · 12/08/2021 22:12

Women who seem to think a guy is an asshole but really they fancy him and love it when he kisses them unexpectedly. Hmm

Kanaloa · 12/08/2021 22:21

This always happens on tv shows - someone will be ‘sorting laundry’ but they are just folding things in half and tossing them in a basket. Like why are you doing that? Just crumple them all into the basket and fold them when you’re about to put them away. It is such an odd way to go about things.

Also, kids who don’t act anything close to their age. So eight year olds who seem to have the mental capacity of a five year old/still act really babyish, and always seem to just stand holding parents hands. Sometimes when characters on tv have kids I think they’d be as well with a big stuffed doll rather than a child actor.

Knittingnanny · 12/08/2021 22:22

@ufucoffee, I was going to say that! I always say where are their books, hairdryers, sewing machine, out of season clothes etc. And the way the holdalls or suitcases are lifted and carried, as if they are empty. Of course I know they are probably empty but why don’t the props dept put stuff in to make it heavier and more realistic?

Kanaloa · 12/08/2021 22:22

Also how nobody who does detective work on tv is ever a professional detective. The professionals just stand stupidly in the background wearing a trench coat while the case is solved by a writer/teacher/scientist of some sort/random person.

WeatherwaxOn · 12/08/2021 22:26

I don't watch a lot of TV but I remember many years ago on Baywatch when a pregnant woman went swimming, went into labour and had the baby on the beach. Wearing a swimming costume which was as new immediately afterwards.

3luckystars · 12/08/2021 22:28

Can you actually imagine trying to give birth in a swimming costume!!! I would be like the Incredible Hulk ripping it off me on the beach, sound effects and everything.

Twinklettoz · 12/08/2021 22:28

Every detective does wear a trench coat actually.
